In the world of suggestive, banned commercials, Axe Body Spray takes a back seat to no one. Playing quarters into a shot glass nestled in a woman’s bra? Genius! This new one, however, takes sexual innuendo to glorious new heights. Banned in Canada (of course), this TV spot, entitled Axe Ball Cleaner, features actress Jaime Pressly as tennis champ Monica Blake, and hostess Denese Saintclaire, well, cleaning balls. Denese playing with a pair of golf balls is worth the price of admission.
Video following the jump.
Not everyone is amused, however. A comment from reader Bibleyes at The Gloss.com:
I was watching TV on Sunday on the TNT channel when this commercial from Axe came on. This is a totally inappropriate commercial. On one in our household will purchase any of their products now. If a company has to resort to filthy and suggestive narratives and scenes, then you as a consumer will be on their level if you give your hard-earned dollars to them. This country constantly mocks the Godly values that our fore-fathers established when they came to this country. If you can’t say or do anything uplifting for the people, then just shut up!

Actually, I am a mixed style martial artist specializing in knives as well as an archer. Do I own a gun? No, but I do own a long bow and a series of knives.
And I didn’t, he moved away. He found out I was coming for him and he packed his stuff and got the hell out of there.
I agree, he IS nuts…

Oooops, I meant why did “he” move away, not you, lol. I was laughing when I typed that. No, you know MMA? I was just joking around. A long bow? Are you serious? Wow! Hahaha, he packed his stuff and got out of dodge huh? Guess he didn’t want an arrow! LOL!!!

Hahaha, yeah you’re a psychopath!!!! LOL! Long bows? Knives? Yeah, watch out for you! Hope you don’t have a temper. I don’t want to see you on an episode of “Snapped” on the oxygen network! LOL! You’re a fun person to talk to also!

It’s funny that there is so much bashing of individuals here. One would think the people that are offended by the commercial and are taking the position that it is tasteless, crude, and a bad example for people would set a better example for others by being more respectful of those with differing opinions. Equally, one would also think that the more liberal people not offended by the commercial would tend to be even more accepting of people with a differing view.

You are so right if you want to have sex it might as well be with someone clean and Leah shut up that commercial was funny and better then what most retarded home schooled kids watch. And if they want to watch T.V. while they SHOULD be studying then send the poor kids to public school.

Unfortunately, I do have a bit of a temper. Luckily, it doesn’t flare unnecessarily. I am generally a very quiet and calm person…but if you do manage to piss me off, run! lol

Hahahaha, yeah you are. You just admitted it. You gotta watch those quiet ones. Those are the ones who snap on people! So I better stay on your good side, and not piss you off. I don’t want a ninja star in my forehead! LOL!!!!

I try to have a sense of humor about things but I couldn’t help finding this ad very distasteful. It’s wrong on so many levels I can’t even go into it, all of it compounded by the fact that the majority of people find it funny. I think it’s tragic. BTW, I am also a nurse and unfortunately TV portrays nurses as just sex objects just like the women in this commercial. So I doubt that mentioning you are a nurse gives you any credibility amoung this crowd because they have no idea what real nursing is about.

Funny, I don’t see a gun being held to Jaime Pressly’s head, or the other young lady! So if they’re being portrayed as sex objects, it’s of their own free will! I’m tired of people griping about how women are being objectified these days! It’s 2010, and no one is forcing anyone to take part in a commercial or ad campaign they feel is offensive. Complain to the women who are in the commericals. Don’t complain to the makers of the product, the tv execs, or the ppl who thought the commercial was funny. The women aren’t wearing skimpy clothes or short skirts. It’s just a play on words! Geeez, lighten up ppl!!!! Hell I’m offended at the tampon commericals that pour the blue liquid in the middle of the pad to show the effectivness of “wings”!!! Eeeeew gross!!! Do they have to demonstrate that? If you don’t know how a pad works, you probably shouldn’t be wearing them. So why don’t you tell us what “real” nursing is all about there SC! Blah blah blah, nurses are portrayed as sex objects. News flash! So are the shirtless construction workers in the diet pepsi, or dr. pepper commercials. You don’t see a bunch of men writing in complaining to pull that ad when all those women ran to the window of their office talking about “break time”! Try harder to get a sense of humor. Maybe a majority of the ppl found it funny because it was funny! Wow, what a concept! You’re prob just as cold as that darn stethoscope you wear around your neck!!! And warm those things up before you put them on ppl! LOL

I agree with you 100% people. I will never purchase a product that they sell. And I want to tell you good job If I had to put my kids in the schools of today I would Home School them also. No i’m not old and out of touch I am 48 years old. As a mother it’s time for us to stand up and say we are not going to allow this stuff on television. I’m a christian and very proud of that and I will keep fighting for what God wants in this world. Good caring people and not all this sexual stuff they think we want to see. Us christians need to stand up.

sooo sick of all these women saying they won’t buy from axe anymore. Wow, as if axe really does GIVE a about YOU. this commercial was not marketed towards you!!!!!!!!

Ok, good idea. I’ll stay on your good side. Oh wait, you can’t get to me. Even if I piss you off. You have no idea where I am…LOL!!! Can’t kick my butt if you don’t know where it is..hahahaha!!! And yes, this is what the world is coming too. Actually in other places, like Europe for example they show far more raunchier commercials than this one. Folks over here are just so uptight. Besides, the commercial wasn’t marketed towards women anyway. And I have still yet to see this commercial on during daytime television when kids are watching tv. Man folks just want something to piss and moan about! Good grief!!! Funny how when it’s a dude on TV w/ his shirt off, and chiseled chest out, women have no complaints. I mean is the commercial lying? Who wants to play w/ dirty balls? Do you? I didn’t think so.

should be banned from every country & force Axe to remake it !

Actually, I could track you… But I won’t because that is just plain silly. Also, they took it off the day time slot because they got in trouble. It won’t be on tv during the day anymore XD As for the shirtless men, I don’t think they show innuendos of them playing with boobies or anything
If I saw that, I would again say it is inappropriate. The commercial was absolutely fine until she started playing with the balls. That was a little overboard, although they have done worse. >_> Personally, I think that everyone, including axe, should have other things to worry about besides making or watching commercials about testicles. Isn’t there a war we should be stopping? XD

Uhhhhh hellooooooooo!!!? They did remake it, and it’s lame now! Just pull the da*n thing from the air. Old people whine too much! “OMG, I’m so offended by this play on words” SMDH!!

I am quite surprised there hasn’t been a religious debate yet.
Anyway, this ad had the shock factor at first. I was wondering how they could be that ballsy to make an ad like that. Although, now it’s more hilarious than anything.

Kiky, you can’t track me!!!! Get the F outta here!! LOL!!! What are you, a CIA agent? Hahaha!! Otherwise your friend’s (the virgin, well ex-virgin) boyfriend wouldn’t have left town, because he’d know you could track him down. You know what he looks like. You haven’t a clue what I look like. I could be short, fat, tall, or skinny. How do you know they got in trouble? It was probably the local programmers who ran the commerical @ the wrong time. Again, why would this commercial be ran during a time that Dora the Explorer is on? Hahaha, you gave details, how she played w/ the balls….Nice! I thought it showed her talent, and excellent capability of being gentle…LOL! And the Pepsi commercial didn’t need any innuendos of guys playing w/ boobies. They had their shirts off, and the women in the office were practically licking the windows! A war? You mean the stealing of all that oil over there? The ole smoke n’ mirrors of 9/11 is more like it. It’s a shame.

Some people have kids that watch cartoon networks and don’t want their 2-13age kids seeing commercials that don’t belong on nick, cartoon network, and disney channel and any other family channel there is. Auctally it shouldn’t be on T.V. at all.
-
- Topher - Oct 21, 2010 at 2:27 PM

Are you effin’ serious right now? I really doubt a 2yr old is going to get what this commerical is talkin’ about! Hell 2yr olds don’t even like to bathe all that much, they want to get dirty and play in mud and w/ bugs…etc. And why are your kids watching Adult Swim? Because that’s the only time that commerical is aired on the cartoon network, during adult swim. And who are you to decide what belongs on TV and what doesn’t? That’s your opinion. So for the rest of us who don’t mind the commerical, and find it hilarious, we have to be deprived because some uptight soccer mom in Indiana finds this offensive? Turn off the TV if you don’t like what’s being aired in today’s times. That’s where your control begins, it doesn’t infringe on my right to see stuff like that. You have the control of what does, or doesn’t come into your home. Parents today need to take control back, and stop letting TV raise their kids, or leaving it up to athletes to be their kids role models…etc. Then when something happens they don’t like, they’re quick to blame the networks, and tv exces, or sports figures. Hell raise your own kids, and stop letting TV or other influences dictate how they are raised. There’s NatGeo, and the Discovery Channel. There’s also PBS. And chances are, if your kids know what “balls” they’re referring to, they know more than you give them credit for.
