We’ve heard a lot from the introspective Mike Tyson lately, most telling an interview with Details magazine in June in which he declared himself a pig, and said that his life had “been a waste.” The good news is that Iron Mike seems to have lightened up on himself. Now, he says, his biggest regret not having smoked dope with Tupac Shakur.
“He always wanted me to smoke weed (marijuana) with him, and I never did it, and I wish I did,” Tyson said in a recent phone interview with CBS News.
Tyson said he declined because he was a closet smoker and didn’t want it to get out that he smoked the drug. Now, when he looks back on the lost opportunity, he says: “That’s my biggest regret.”
Tyson’s friendship with Shakur is the subject of a new documentary, One Night in Vegas: Tyson & Tupac, which airs Tuesday on ESPN.
The 25-year-old rapper was shot after a Tyson fight in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996; he died six days later.
One of the reasons the two didn’t hook up more often: They became friends when Tyson was imprisoned for rape, and Shakur used to send him messages there. By the time Tyson was released in 1995, Shakur had been jailed for sex abuse. Darn the luck!

Please do not report on what Tyson says. He is on mind altering drugs. He can’t speak nor does he know what he is saying. Leave this dude out of any media. He will say anything for attention. I am glad his daughter died so she wouldn’t be stupid and ignorant like Tyson. What a blessing.
