ESPN releases extended version of Admiral Ackbar commercial

You recall the Admiral Ackbar mascot controversy from earlier this year, in which University of Mississippi students were asked to choose a new mascot. There was a groundswell of support for Admiral Akbar, the salamander-faced Star Wars character best known for uttering the immortal line in Return of the Jedi: “It’s a trap!” In this case it was; Lucasfilm put the kibosh on the idea, disallowing the General’s likeness to be used. That ended fierce debate on campus as to whether a Star Wars character should be the symbol of a deep south university. But ESPN, fascinated by the story nonetheless, is using it in a commercial.
