* Who’s Up For A Quirkier Version Of SportsCenter? ESPN NEWS Has Got ‘The Beat’! Just when you thought ESPN couldn’t come up with even more inventive ways to enslave you to your television and the broadcast behemoth’s multitude of networks, ready or not, tWWL is about to roll out two brand-spanking new shows, and let me tell you, these programs are sure to simultaneously tickle your funny bone and paralyze your remote control-clicking finger! First up in ESPN’s new show rollout is The Beat. Debuting on August 30th, The Beat is for those ESPN viewers who enjoy a more cockeyed look at the world of sports, but not in the way that involves looking at Stuart Scott. [Sportress of Blogitude]
* 3 Yrs Left On Deal, Hawkins Requested Extension. Kyle Ringo of the The Boulder (CO) Daily Camera reports that Dan Hawkins, who is under contract until 2012 and has gone 16-33 in his career at CU — 3-9 last season — recently confirmed on the record that he had requested a contract extension. * Oh Karen! Teacher’s Aide Submits High School Wrestlers With Her Mouth. Wrestlers at Orland High School would have been better off looking into the Ark of the Covenant than spending time with Laura Gallegos. The off-brand Karen Allen has one submission hold that no wrestler can resist. Gallegos was arrested after sexting and servicing several members of the Shasta High wrestling team. [Deuce of Davenport]
* In Yankee Stadium Bleachers, Beer Is For Drinking AND Throwing. Via the Zell Pinstripes Blog comes this catty bleachers fight between two lovely young ladies, one of whom may have slept with the other one’s boyfriend. Or not! Maybe that gal threw the icy, sudsy beer to cool down her friend and prevent heat stroke. I’m not Judge Judy, I don’t know the real story. [Walkoff Walk]
* Ochocinco Debuts New Cereal: Tweeties, The Breakfast Of Champion Self-Promoters. Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco recently launched his own cereal brand, Tweeties, the breakfast of champion self-promoters. [Tauntr]
Also: Tweet from Tony Hawk: Toilet-paper my house… really? What is this, 1950? Okay, I’ll play along. “Damn you, whippersnappers!” … Ha ha ha, type the url Sundevils.com and see where it takes you. Awesome … I have no idea what’s going on here, but soccer fans should get a kick out of it … See the real Ochocinco ceral box here.
