'Bark in the Park Night' at Dodgers Stadium was for the dogs

Over 500 dogs received VIP treatment last night at the Dodgers-Reds game at Chavez Ravine Stadium in Los Angeles at “Bark in the Park Night,” a promotion sponsored by Natural Balance Pet Foods.
A common occurrence at minor league ballparks across the country, the take-your-dog-to-the-park night phenomenon is now gaining momentum in the major leagues, with Saturday night being the third time such an event has been held in a major league ballpark this season.
Los Angeles Times columnist Chris Erskine was on-hand for the event, even bringing his own dog, a beagle named Cujo, along for the experience. Below is an excerpt from his column regarding his experiences during the canine craziness:
Getting in proved a little crazy. Most dogs can’t or won’t read, and even if they could signs were scarce. And this being L.A. there were lines, lines, lines. Many folks — and dogs — didn’t make it in until after the first pitch.
But generally the dogs were great. They seemed to feed on the behavior of the primates around them. When the fans rose, so did the pets.
When they sat quietly, so did the dogs. As I’ve always said, dogs are superior to kids. Not to set the bar too awfully high, but they may be superior to me.
Sounds like a grand ol’ time. Fortunately, the Dodgers stopped this troublemaker at the gate:
Yeah, security had that little rascal’s photo plastered at ever gate. Good thing, too, I would say.
