Aug 16, 2010, 6:00 PM EDT
* This Is The California 200 Victim Who Saved His Daughter’s Life. Andrew Therrien was one of the first spectators killed by an off-road truck during Saturday’s California 200 disaster, but before he died the single father pushed three people to safety, including his 3-year old daughter. [Jalopnik]
* Yeah, this is a good idea. Aston Villa lost its manager, fought off bids for its best players and won its opener. Let’s throw a little Maradona on that fire, shall we? [Unprofessional Foul]
* Patrick Kane’s Mom Bags Him Reading A Twilight Book. Apparently the 21-year-old was caught by his mother reading the final book in the series, Breaking Dawn. That’s not exactly how I envisioned Kane spending his off-season. [Larry Brown Sports]
* Orlando Cabrera proves there are no bat ‘men’ … only batboys. Sidelined since the beginning of August with an oblique strain, antsy O-Cab decided to serve as one of the team’s batboys during the Cincinnati Reds’ 2-0 victory over Florida on Sunday. [Big League Stew]
* Also: That Redskins win over the Bills on Friday? It was worth 12 pizza toppings … Hard to imagine a better weekend than this.
