As Mark Twain once said, ,”Golf is a good walk spoiled,” and anyone who has made the commitment to attempt to not master, but to solely not go completely insane and rip one’s hair out at the roots while toiling through a frustrating round can certainly attest to the uncontainable anger that can rise up and boil over into a white-hot, blinding rage while spending a “relaxing” day on the course. Clubs may be thrown, old balls dug out of the bottom of the bag may be dropped on the ground and spastically blasted into the woods, among other unhinged demonstrations of childish hissy fits.
But we, as golfers, weekend warriors or single handicappers, always have believed that epic meltdowns on the course are typically reserved for hack golfers, and we would certainly not believe the likes of the talented individuals playing on the PGA Tour would be capable of such immature antics. Apparently, we were wrong. Dead wrong. Check out this video of Sergio Garcia – who, to be fair, has been playing awful golf for some time now – completely losing it after hitting a poor shot out of bunker during the first round of the 92nd PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.

Sweet mercy. That is a frightening illustration of golfing-induced rageaholism. Thankfully for Garcia, he is sitting at +5 when play was suspended yesterday and is unlikely to make the cut. Even better, he previously stated that he will be taking an extended break from competitive golf as soon as his play at the PGA Championship is finished.
Yeah, that’s probably a pretty good idea.
