So ESPN is going to have another The Decision in 14 years? Or perhaps sooner, on another network. “Which middle school will young basketball phenom attend? Tune in on Nickelodeon Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to find out!” Anyway, meet Ketaan “Keewee” Wyatt, third grader and hoops superstar from Toledo. The 8-year-old attends Martin Luther King Academy, and you can check out his skills here.
The former Toledo HS ball boy lists his favorite players as Allen Iverson, Lebron James, and Brandon Jennings. Wyatt is rated as one of the top 3rd grade players in the country, let alone Ohio, by the site MiddleSchoolElite.com. He has impressed so much at an early age that Ketaan has even been given complimentary invites to Ohio State University and the University of Tennessee’s basketball camps.
The bigger news: there is a site called MiddleSchoolElite.com. And I didn’t know there were such things as “complimentary invites” to college basketball camps. Is this a form of kiddie recruiting? Is Tennessee working on 8-year-olds? Can’t we just leave kids alone and put off the madness until they get to high school? Sheesh.
And the point guard, standing three foot three, four feet if you include the ears, Co-captain of the toon squad, the Doctor of Delight: Friday!
