No longer must he only be known as Bo the Bailer. We now know the full name of the unchivalrous Astros fan who ran away from a foul ball and let his girlfriend get hit on Monday at Minute Maid Park. It’s Bo Wyble. He and girlfriend Sara Saco-Vertiz appeared on the CBS Early Show this morning to explain … wait, did I call her his girlfriend? Sorry. According to Sara, the two have broken up. Well, I suppose that was inevitable.
On “The Early Show” Thursday, Saco-Veritz indicated the two have called it quits — though she said it isn’t only because of what happened at the game.
Asked by co-anchor Harry Smith about their status, Saco-Veritz said, “Alright. Well, I mean it’s not over because of the ball. Um…” “More than we want to know,” Smith interjected.
Video following the jump.
Poor Bo. When Harry Smith berates you for not being a man, that’s the living worst. Stand up for yourself, Bo. Get up and kick Harry in the chest, then grab Sara and kiss her long and hard. Take that, America.
I’m kind of disappointed with Bo’s TV appearance. No sideways hat. No lip ring. Although the torn jeans was a nice touch for national TV. Form an orderly line, ladies.

Did the media “jump” out of the way? How in the hell can you blame the media….must be one of those “T” baggers.

Just want to point out that both of them were wearing ripped jeans!!! She has holes on both of her knees in the video. So let’s be fair when we are talking about what to wear on TV….I’m just sayin’!

Seriously Ari…There’s a huge difference between having to “be macho” and learning how a real man treats a girl, i.e. blocking a foul ball rather than leaping out of the way like it was a grenade and allowing it to strike your girlfriend. Really, that guy needs to man up.
it’s not sexist to be courteous and respectful of the girl you’re with. That’s just manners

No, actually, a lot of you are just meatheads regurgitating the same societal BS that has been crammed down your throat since birth.
There is a deeper issue here with these pathetic media slants. It’s situations like this that outline how responsibility and accountability are optional for women in this society. When in doubt, just blame the guy for not paying attention or being quick enough.
And believe me, I say this as a man who can catch a foul ball and has protective instincts of the people surrounding him, regardless of gender. But that’s the pathetic thing here… this incident has turned into a typical archaic scenario where the man is an a$$ for not taking the woman’s bullet. He is now responsible for her actions (or lack thereof, in this case).
Well, I guess we can go there, if that’s what women STILL want… Yup, she was obviously too frail, weak-willed, timid, etc., etc. to assert herself in the situation, riiight?? The damsel was forced to face her distress, riiiiiight??
14th Century Mentalities… gotta love it! Of course, this is just a side-effect of all the things women DIDN’T give up when they wanted to step up as equal members of society… (Shhhhhhhhhhhhh)

Don’t blame women for the sexism, here. Feminists don’t want it both ways. Though I suppose there are plenty of women who want the good parts of feminism while wanting to be taken care of. Still, don’t blame feminism.
And @Alex, the whole “real man” “man up” shit is totally macho. Given time to think about it, I’d take a ball on the elbow rather than have someone else endure that pain, but it’s not a macho thing, I’d do it for man or woman alike. That’s just being selfless.
And that’s with time to think about it. I don’t see blaming the guy for instinctually dodging a ball coming at him with that kinda speed.
The infantalization of women and naming men after female genitalia derogitorily if they don’t conform to gender norms… that stuff just makes me sick. (Not that you did the second part, there, Alex. Just responding to the general comments now, I guess.)

Please try learning to read next time, Ari… Nobody blamed feminism (except maybe you).
I love feminism. I just want to see it in a true form… not an open buffet, grab-bag of when you want to step up and be accountable and when you want to shirk. That’s why I correctly label women’s level of accountability/responsibility in this society as “optional”.
So, I’m actually blaming UNDERDEVELOPED feminism, I guess. But no, I’m not making a case against the movement. The exact opposite! I’m saying bring it on FOR REAL… take the training wheels off already, m’kay? This half-a$$ed, wishy-washy version is what creates a lot of the dementia in our society, not to mention ruining relationships, and not just at the baseball diamond… this type of infantile dynamic rears its ugly head in forms too numerous to fully detail.
Now, THAT is what I’m ACTUALLY saying (not that a clarification was really needed if you re-read the original)…

I heard their relationship went foul….
She was really into him until he sidestepped her incoming questions…
She got sick of him gazing blankly into left field…
She doesn’t know what happened, he used to be a real stand up guy. Now he just stands there letting all the balls fly by.
He caught her holding on to some other guys balls.

Nothing wrong with the way he is dressed. For the work place what she is wearing is showing to much cleavage. She is the bailer leaving the guy after something this trival. Everyone is being to hard on this guy. Come on ladies I thought you said you wanted to be equal with men. My girlfriend and I would have been competing to see who would catch the ball. Just shows how media takes stuff and makes a mountain out of a mole hill.

I hope Bo got paid alot of money to do this interview. Otherwise, he shoulda slapped Harry upside the head with that ball. Perhaps he’s a glutton for punishment. The local Houston Female reporter already made him look like an idiot. This interview didn’t help. Plus – it is a TOTAL non-story!! Who cares. CBS should be ashamed for stooping so low as to air this ridiculous segment about 2 nobodies. Feeble-minded, to say the least.

The posters here are idiots. They broke up AND she was hit by a foul ball. That doesn’t mean one caused the other.
I heard they broke up due to infidelity (not with the ball)
People are stupid though
