Rodman refuses autographs to people who pulled him from car wreck

Aug 2, 2010, 1:15 PM EDT

The big news isn’t that Dennis Rodman walked away virtually unscathed after a car wreck in which his Range Rover flipped three times. Like Keith Richards’ nervous system or M. Night Shyamalan’s career, Rodman is pretty much indestructible. No, here’s the interesting part, via TMZ:

The car flipped three times and Dennis had to be pulled from the car by a few good Samaritans who had stopped to help.

We’re told the people who helped pull Dennis out of the wreckage later asked for autographs … but Rodman politely declined.

Keep in mind that according to reports, Rodman walked away from the crash with only “a scratched finger.” Speaking just for myself, I am so sick and tired of these adults who hang around major U.S. roadways waiting for celebrities to crash their cars, then risk their own lives to pull them from the crumpled wreckage, make sure they’re OK and then call for help, just to get their autographs. I mean, get a life, people.
A female passenger in the car sustained a minor head injury. From the London Daily Mail:

Rodman’s agent, Darren Prince, said the 6-foot-6 athlete had just returned to the U.S. from Saint Tropez where he was DJ-ing last week.

The hard-living sports icon was spotted partying with actress Tara Reid.

He is such a loser – always has been and always will be – like someone said earlier – who in the heck would want his autograph to begin with?

    All defensive team 7 times
Defensive Player of the Year- twice
NBA rebounding champ- seven consecutive years
    5 NBA Championships- 89, 90, 96, 97, 98
Weird stuff off the court, but the dude could play.

True good samaritans wouldn’t have expected anything in return for their acts. They’re lucky that he “politely declined”. I don’t think I would have responded so graciously to such an improperly timed request.

  10. drewmeister - Aug 2, 2010 at 8:29 PM

Think about any time you’ve been in a car accident. No matter how minor, it is a jarring experience. The man had just been in a car accident. I’m sure he was more in shock about that than anything else, and giving out autographs was the last thing on his mind.

there are sick people that hang out here. no love whatsoever. that’s not everybody so we know who’s who. some just hang out to trash people. you could look in your own circle and find scum. i know because scum attracts scum.

Lotta people kickin a man when he’s down on here.
Alcohol is massacring the mans brain- so let’s hit him with a bat or brick ?
No – mans got fortitude – I’ll give him that along with being gifted in the Art of Intangibles on the ball court.
As for “good Samaritans” – I never heard of a Samaritan asking for a reward before.
The Samaritans were just wanna be “sound bites ” and have there 30 secs of fame.
Besides – know any celebs that want to issue autographs after gettin rolled in an embarrassing accident.

Unless u are unconscious…or in a lot of pain…u cannot be in that much shock not to thank the ppl who helped u. Gimme a break…I was in 3 high speed wrecks…none of them my fault…and I was able to thank the EMT and Police who helped me and the others. Rodman is a jackass…plain and simple…

  18. Dennis - Aug 3, 2010 at 4:27 AM

    idiot, with idiot fans

  19. greg - Aug 3, 2010 at 7:21 AM

    All of the above! lol

No kidding on that comment. . . .it’s pretty pathetic when supposedly “educated” folks cannot even put together a basic sentence (or comment) with proper grammar and spelling. It just goes to show the sad state of our society and culture when being ignorant and illiterate is “good enough” or “satisfactory”, as they now give out as passing grades in school. Sadly, I now understand why others consider many of us “stupid Americans”, since that is what we have become in more ways than I care to count.

  21. b.morris - Aug 3, 2010 at 7:57 AM

the problem with people in society today is they need to stop treating celebs …. actors, sports figures etc. like they are some kind of god. people running people over to get an autograph, and then getting mad because their hero turned their back on them. oh boo hoo. you save a mans life and you think you should be rewarded with an autograph. shame on you.people get a life and believe that the only god you need to know is the one in heaven.

  22. Fecteau - Aug 3, 2010 at 8:09 AM

Maybe even lit a match and threw it in the general direction of the car a few times. If Tara Reid was in the car you’d rid the world of two pests!

  23. jrl - Aug 3, 2010 at 8:23 AM

    maybe “never was”

  24. msnyc - Aug 3, 2010 at 8:24 AM

How is most stupid? Dennis or the people that asked him for an autograph after a car accident? Did they think it was a good time to ask??

  25. Leo - Aug 3, 2010 at 2:56 PM

Ok people Dennis is Dennis and has always been Dennis but you all have this wrong. F— the people that had the balls to ask for an autograph in that situation its not like he was holding a press conference or showing up for an autograph session,he just almost got killed!!!That is the first thing I want to do is sign some assholes shirt after my car flipped three times while going down the road come on have some common sense people!!!
