The Washington Redskins conditioning test: so easy a lady reporter can do it

Jul 31, 2010, 2:00 PM EST

albert haynesworth.jpgBy now you have likely heard about Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth not yet practicing with his teammates during training camp because he has not yet passed the requisite conditioning test which would allow him to participate. Not only did Haynesworth fail it once, he failed it twice and did not even attempt passing the conditioning test today as he is now sidelined with a swollen knee.
Of course, the news that a player who the Redskins are paying a bunch of money to was not able to pass a simple conditioning test was of great interest to residents of the D.C. area, which is why FOX 5′s intrepid reporter Lindsay Murphy decided to find out just how hard it really is to score a passing time in the test Haynesworth has failed multiple times by trying to run the darn thing herself.
Video follows.

Via Fox 5:

The test consists of 300 yards of sprints — called a “shuttle” — back and forth 25 yards at a time. It has to be run twice, with only a 3 1/2-minute break in between. The short break demonstrates that the player can recover quickly. Linemen have to run the first shuttle in 70 seconds, the second one in 73 seconds.

Haynesworth finished the test in 71 seconds Friday.

Sixty-eight seconds, beating Haynesworth’s time by three seconds. Well done, Lindsay Murphy. She’s like an athletic Barbara Walters Or some other lady reporter or something.

So what? Find a 300 lb lady who can beat 71 seconds and then we’ll talk. It is very difficult for any one who weighs in the vicinity of Albert to pass this test.
I think Shanny expects the highest paid players to be team leaders, and show up for everything. This conditioning requirement is made to humiliate, it is to be extremely unpleasant, and Albert is all ready begging to practice. Next season he will participate fully and bypass this nastiness.

When coach says jump, Al’s ONLY response should be: “How high?”

I cant wait to see the sled drills.

  4. DABone - Jul 31, 2010 at 9:16 PM

Misleading headline? She did not complete the shuttle run in the required time. She failed by 10 seconds.

Like I care. I’m the 100 million dollar man, and there’s nothing you can do about it! Hahahahahahahahahaha.

As a D1 track athlete (sprints), this test is a complete joke. But all athletes at my college had to pass a conditioning test. The only guy I know who failed was an All American as a freshman so it’s not like Albert is a bad athlete. He just has to take plays off every now and then.

So what? He’s getting paid 100 mil to stay in shape and he’s not doing it. Besides which he’s a pro athelete. No reporter off the street, much less a female one, should be able to beat him at any of his drills (not a knock on the ladies, just a fact).

Headlines needs to be corrected to read:
The Washington Redskins conditioning test: so easy a lady reporter can (almost) do it
    or
The Washington Redskins conditioning test: so easy a lady reporter can (probably) do it (if she had a bit more training on this specific drill)
She didn’t finish in the allotted time, but she did *much* better than most regular schlubs/people could do!

Well, sign her up to $100 million contract and put her on the DL. BTW, that wouldn’t be the worst move the ‘skins have made in the last few years.

  10. WTF - Aug 1, 2010 at 3:41 PM

    1. Misleading headline.
    2. The trick isn’t to find someone who can do the drill. The trick is to find someone who weighs 300+ pounds and shed blockers who can do the drill.
    3. “As a D1 track athlete…” — No one gives a sh-t. Next time play a sport that people care about (more than once every four years).
    I’m out!

If Lindsay Murphy is a 300 pound interior lineman, then I’d be a) very impressed and b) making fun of Fat Albert even more than I usually do.
However, Lindsay is less than half his size. She still failed the test. So, the headline here is actually incorrect: She, in fact, CANNOT do it.
    Editing much?

Bottom line. The guy is getting paid 100 mil. Part of his job is to stay in shape. The only reason he is not passing that test is because he was not doing his job. You don’t get paid for just the season. Your expected to stay in shape in the off season.
Just goes to show he is not worth the money he is being paid. Redskins would be better off to cut him.
A shame we can’t cut the owner.

This girl is stupid and out of shape for a skinny girl you BARELY BEAT FAT ALBERT thats pathetic that girl needs to lay off the donuts and never do that test again because that just shows you the fastest of the females can barely beat the slowest of the males THATS ALL THAT PROVED!!!!

  14. BC - Aug 2, 2010 at 12:14 PM

I heard Mike Golic was going to try running the test today. Curious if anyone hears the results.

  15. DRCC - Aug 2, 2010 at 2:57 PM

Granted she is not 300 pounds, but her version of the shuttle run was harder because she did essentially 12 25 yard sprints as opposed to 6 50 yard sprints. That would drastically slow her down because she would have to stop and start 2x the amount.

  16. Greg - Aug 3, 2010 at 9:09 AM

fat albert is lazy… this girl is not an athlete… come really she did just as well as him.. blah blah 300 lbs… you know what.. pleanty of other 300 pound athletes passed the test on other teams around the nfl..

  17. VP - Aug 3, 2010 at 2:19 PM

What?! she died lol. She barely passed the first one and didn’t pass the second one. I think Golic beat her lol. But as some people said I would be impressed if she was 300+ pounds.
