* Why LA Gangs Traded In Raiders For The Dodgers. There’s an interesting stealth sports merchandise trend going on here in Los Angeles that, until now, has been under the radar for most folks outside of SoCal. For decades, Raiders gear has been the team of choice in L.A. gang culture, but in the past 2-3 years, local sports team affiliation has changed dramatically for those involved in that type of organized criminal activity. The Dodgers have now clearly gained most-favored status among Los Angeles gang members. [SportsbyBrooks]
* Comegy speaks; the blog listens. Casey Therriault, junior quarterback, Grand Rapids — we’re finding out more on this guy, but here’s a story about his not-so-great past … Comegy on Therriault’s past: “He’s paid his debt to society. As long as he abides by university rules and team rules, he’s fine.” [Ross Dellenger Blog: Clarion Ledger]

* Mark Cuban’s Cameo in Dorrough’s ‘Get Big’. By now, you would think that Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban would have appeared in many music videos. However to my knowledge, this is his first ever appearance in any music video. The song is by rapper Dorrough called, “Get Big” which essentially has a billion lines about making money and getting big. Dorrough, a Dallas native, has Mark appear in the beginning of his video at about the :43 second mark as he leaves an armored truck. [That NBA Lottery Pick]
* Beauty Queen Offers To Toe Rubber After Slight. Last night after he was called on to start for the Washington Nationals only because Stephen Strasburg was unable to get loose in pregame warmups, pitcher Miguel Batista said of the jeering reaction of Nats fans: “Imagine, if you go there to see Miss Universe — and you end up having Miss Iowa.” When informed of Batista’s comment, Miss Iowa Katherine Connors said today in an official statement, “I know I can throw a pitch or two! The question is, can Miguel Batista walk the runway in a swimsuit?” [SportsbyBrooks]
