Morning Tweet: Stephen Strasburg, Miss Iowa and you

Jul 28, 2010, 9:00 AM EDT

So 40,043 Nationals fans convened to see their young hero, Stephen Strasburg, pitch against the Braves on Tuesday, but instead got Miguel Batista. Strasburg, reporting arm stiffness, was scratched from his start at the last minute. The response by Nats fans? According to D.C. Sports Bog, scattered boos, and a few early departures. Here’s the message the Nationals put on the JumboTron just before the game:

Stephen Strasburg was pulled from tonight’s start just minutes before 1st pitch. This was a precautionary move due to Stephen having difficulty getting loose. His status is day to day.

Of course Batista went out and threw five shutout innings and the Nationals beat the Braves, 3-0. Afterward, Miss Iowa somehow got dragged into it. Batista:

“Imagine if you go to see Miss Universe, then you end up having Miss Iowa, you might get those kind of boos.”

But what happens, Miguel, if Miss Iowa and Miss Universe are one in the same? It could happen. At any rate, Pauli Mayfield would probably like to have a few words with you.
