The best Little League pitcher in the nation just may be a girl

If this is indeed the Year of the Pitcher, we can’t let this story slide. Chelsea Baker, a 13-year-old from Plant City, Fla., has two perfect games in Little League competition; the only girl in an all-boys baseball league. With a 12-0 record this season and having never lost a sanctioned game in which she’s pitched, some are calling her the best youth pitcher in the state, if not the country. Her secret weapon? A “nasty” knuckleball which she’s spent the past four years perfecting, and was taught to her by the late Joe Niekro, the 22-year MLB veteran.
A great ESPN video profile of Chelsea follows the jump. Inspiring, heartwarming stuff; plus, bonus footage of kid crying after a girl strikes him out, which is always funny. You should check it out.
Chelsea’s 11-12 year-old all-star team (that’s the division that plays in the Little League World Series in Williamsport) has won its District 4 Tournament, and is currently in sectional competition.

The story of the girl is great. The video of the kid crying disgusting. It’s a kid for goodness sakes. He may have cried even if a boy had struck him out. Why post this KID’s forgettable moment for all to see. Get your chuckles somewhere else!! Disgusting!!!

Stop being so sensitive you pansy. And we wonder why America’s youth are growing up to be a bunch of wussy’s. It’s cause people like you complain when your uncordinated kid doesn’t play enough. Stick to band and choir.

Love to see her team make the Little League WS! You go girl!
Also, about the kid crying. I could have sympathy if he’d been struck out by some terrible girl, but this girl pitches better than the boys. To me, it’s like being struck out by a young Tom Seaver & then crying about it. Toughen up, young man.
