Wolves GM David Kahn fined for being a moron, source of new meme

If you follow the National Basketball Association even just a little bit, you have no doubt been made aware of the sublime idiocy which has characterized David Kahn’s short tenure as the Minnesota Timberwolves general manager. On Thursday, he upped the dumbbell ante during an interview on Twin Cities sports radio station 1500 ESPN, when he blindly plowed through numerous topics, the most damaging being how he believed newly-acquired T-Wolf Michael Beasley’s issues during his time playing with the Miami Heat stemmed from his marijuana use.
Say what?
The quote (via on the Wolves):
“He’s a very young and immature kid who smoked too much marijuana and has told me that he’s not smoking anymore,” Kahn said, “and I told him that I would trust him as long as that was the case.”
Um, yeah. The problem is, the NBA doesn’t like when executives for its teams wax nostalgic regarding a player’s past weed smoking. I know, shocking. Unfortunately for the Kahn Man, the NBA quickly asserted itself and fined Kahn $50,000. Not only did Kahn get rung up but the team was also fined $50K for apparently allowing the spokesperson for the franchise, you know, speak. Yeah.
Just because they are so out of this world – in fact, it makes you wonder if Kahn himself was toking on a doobie before his interview – here is how he explained his belief that Beasley has grown up and put the pipe down:
“He has developed a really good support system around him this past season in Miami,” Kahn told KSTP. “He has hired people to help him grow up. He is growing up — he’s not grown up. He’s 21 … and he just turned 21 last January, and if you think back, as I do all the time, to when I was 21, and if you had given me this kind of money and put me in this kind of world with these kinds of pressures attached to it and some of the demands, I don’t know how well I would have handled it, any easier than, say, he has.”
I see. So I guess what Kahn is saying is he too would have taken a photo of his back tattoo with a bag of grass on the table in plain view if he was a rich and young NBA player. I can see that.
Anyhoo, it is my guess that you too have perhaps not the best impression of how well that little thing in people’s brains that stop them from saying exactly what’s on their minds at inopportune moments works in David Kahn’s melon. And stupid comments like Kahn’s deserve stupid internet memes.
