Glenn Beck 'apologizes' for calling Brian Urlacher a neo-Nazi

Jul 24, 2010, 12:00 PM EDT

Glenn Beck.jpgFirst off before I get started, I must admitI have had little experience with this Glenn Beck fella. As a rule, I choose to avoid reading/watching/listening to any person with an inflammatory political agenda, whether they be liberal or conservative. But from what I understand, Beck’s methods involve being provocative simply for the sake of being provocative — much like every other political wonk who revels in hearing the sound of their own voice.
With that said, here’s the gig: Beck, during a discussion regarding his placement on the “blackest folks we know” list, pointed out that Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher (who was also on the list), with his shaved head and the fact that he was white, resembled a neo-Nazi. Of course, the response to Beck’s irresponsible comments from the internets was hostile at best, so Mr. Beck decided that a condescending, non-apology was in order (via FOX News):

During a segment about myself being named one of the “blackest white folks we know” by the website theroot.com, I made a few comments about some others on the list. Now, I know absolutely nothing about sports, so I didn’t realize that one of them was NFL star Brian Urlacher.

Since then, I have been informed by my staff that Brian — uh, Mr. Urlacher — could kill me with his thumb in nine seconds if he wanted to. Although if we are talking about people in Chicago wanting to beat me up, he’s going to have to stand in a very long line.

So there you have it. Beck sort of, kind of, not really but yeah apologized. Now can we all move on and stop mixing our politics up with our sports? I’ll tell you one thing, the combination of the two sure as hell ain’t as pleasant as biting into a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. And now I’m hungry. Consarn it!

this another example p.c. gone to far.anybody with half a brain could tell he was joking but no the liberal media has to try and make something out of nothing, now as usual he didn’t apologise enough to suit them. next I guess now he will have to say he is sorry to neo nazis.will someone show me where it says in the constitution that we have the right to politicaly correct free speech and not free speech?

Man up Urlacher! Glenn is one of the few GOOD guys There is.

  3. Jerry - Jul 24, 2010 at 5:14 PM

Here come the rightwingers, out of the woodwork to defend foul mouthed Beck. I, for one, would like to see Urlacher use his thumb on Beck.

sharon, Glen is not one of the GOOD GUYS. if you don’t know that i feel sorry for you. Glenn Beck is about Glenn Beck. That’s pretty much it. it’s schtick. He makes millions upon millions doing his bits and people buy it hook line and sinker. people complain about taxes, oil increases, etc.. but have no problem buying his books, videos and going to his speaking engagements. there is a lot of money out there for the taking and he is making the most of it. just remember, milli vanilli was once very popular too. does not mean they actually had any talent. they were just popular. oh, and rich. a fool and his/her money will soon be parted. glenn figured it out.

  6. stewieeeeeeee - Jul 24, 2010 at 7:23 PM

Sharon, Glenn Beck is not one of the good guys. Glenn is about Glenn. he is a former failed wacky DJ who was able to figure out what a lot of others have. that the nutty right wing nutjobs of this country love to spend money on books, videos and speaking tours that validate their irrational beliefs. as a business model, it actually is pure genius. you go after the must angry and uneducated to get your payday. Rush Limpballs was also a failed morning wacky dj. uh oh, i see a pattern here.

  7. CYGNUS X-1 - Jul 24, 2010 at 7:59 PM

hey stewie-I love you tree hugging left wingers calling anybody who does not subscribe to your views as rightwing nut jobs and uneducated.but it is perfectly ok for left wing wackos like oberman and maddows to spew thier tree hugging liberal views and make as much money as they can.let’s see obermann was a washed up espn anchor and had how many failed host jobs before he got his msnbc job?so that makes him more qualified than beck to host a show? never heard of that dyke maddows untill she got that job what are her qualifacations?

  8. stewie - Jul 24, 2010 at 8:07 PM

CYGNUS X-1, who says i am a left wing tree hugger? when you assume, you make an ass of yourself and ok, yourself. maybe i am an independent that hates republican hypocrits? wow, you use the word dyke. you smart be. not sure i saw the part of the article that referenced keith o or maddow. keep it on the topic there spiffy.
give your boyfriend todd a kiss goodnight and hopefully your transgender transformation will be done this year.

  9. CYGNUS X-1 - Jul 24, 2010 at 8:53 PM

wow stewie is it that time of the month for you?I included oberman and your lesbian hottie(that less offensive to you) because you included the jobs beck and limbaugh had as if that was revelant.and I wanted to point out that people with conservatives views were not the only ones on the air preaching thier beliefs.they just happen to be the ones most americans seem to like, check the ratings so I guess that means a majority of Americans are right wing nut job. I would rather be that than a tree hugging liberal/independent douche like you!

  10. stewie - Jul 24, 2010 at 9:08 PM

CYGNUTS X-1, you are right. i give. you are absolutely correct. the best way to fix what is wrong with this country is to put the republicans back in there. i mean wow, when george bush left office we had no debt, budget surpluses and no illegal immigrants in this country. then all of a sudden, obama gets elected and he spent $13 trillion dollars with no money coming in his very first day. he also brought all of the illegals into the US in the back of his mini van since we had none. your superior talking points and ability to use big words like douche and dyke also give you quite a notch up. nevermind the fact that obama’s approval ratings are the same as the second coming of jesus-Ronald Reagan at this same point in time since they were elected. that’s just the damn liberal media. i am going to go down to the gulf coast and find a big oil filled tree to hug. should i call you douche? dyke? or queer in my closing? you funny gal

I listen to Beck and I have never heard him make foul mouthed comments. You have displayed your ignorance and attempted to damaged the reputation of a fair commentator

  12. rtg497 - Jul 24, 2010 at 11:21 PM

I challenge you to look up Rachel Maddow’s credentials and then compare them to anyone on Fox. It will shut you up rather quickly, I think.

  13. John - Jul 25, 2010 at 2:06 AM

the guys a flat out kook. little maturity, somebody should send him to sit in the corner and think about what he had just said. but that might make him worse.

  14. Jimsjam33 - Jul 25, 2010 at 4:38 AM

Let’s see , Rachel Maddox is boring and a zealot for gay rights ( I wonder why ) and the progressive left . She is a left winged puppet echoing program decisions for her left winged bosses . Therefore , she is perfect as a commentator for liberal progressive commentary on MSNBC . Who cares ? Nobody watches her or hears what she has to say anyway .
    Credentials ? Who cares .

  15. Grim Weaper - Jul 25, 2010 at 9:01 AM

Maybe not foul-mouthed but he pontificated on air about killing Michael Moore, called Katrina survivors scumbags, and said he hates 9/11 widows. But this is all perfectly acceptable since it comes from someone on the right. Beck is a degenerate that espouses far right rhetoric but laughs all the way to the bank with your money, you Rube. Someday he will be exposed for the bastard he his and the right will creep away from him.

  16. bama dad - Jul 25, 2010 at 8:26 PM

“Anyway, I apologize to anyone who was offended. I just made a neo-Nazi joke based on the short hair and white skin; I don’t actually think he has fascist plans to take over the Earth.”
Good job Speed only include part of the apology, definitely know how you really feel about Beck.

What are the qualifications of anyone on Faux news? Please list them in detail, since you brought it up. Then we will address the Ivy League education of Olbermann and the Oxford eductation of Maddow.
