Jul 22, 2010, 4:00 PM EDT

* Daly Takes Cherry Bomb Trousers to Canada After `Extreme’ British Open. His pants were a major discussion at the British Open again, as was his marketing of the trousers. “The amount of attention we received each day was incredible,” Alan Wallace, sales director at Loudmouth Golf, a San Mateo, California- based clothing maker, said in an e-mail. “We had a 40 percent increase in sales during the entire tournament.” [Bloomberg]
* Ryne Sandberg Is Ready to Make the Jump to the Majors. “I am ready, I sure am. Four years of managing at the Minor League level, I am ready for a Major League job and I am ready to win. The reason I went this route was to manage and not to coach. There is a lot with managing and with almost four years under my belt I believe that I am ready and I am not interested in on-the-job learning or training at this point. I am interested in winning ballgames at the Major League level.” [Sports Radio Interviews]

* Hey Look! Another Soccer Brawl, This Time With Reporters! Whee! Several of the players for Goiás Esporte Clube, one of the largest club teams in Brazil, along with their coach, Emerson Leao, got into a brawl with sideline radio reporters after a 2-2 draw with Vitoria at the Barradao stadium in Salvador. According to reports, the coach and Goias striker Rafael Moura were taken into police custody for questioning. [Sportress of Blogitude]
* Because Listening To Tommy Lasorda Sing The National Anthem Is Just So Damn Funny. Oh, and it was Lasorda Bobblehead Night. Take a listen. You won’t be disappointed. [Busted Coverage]
* NY Billboard: LeBron Sponsor Can’t Take The Heat. There’s a brand-new billboard of LeBron James for Sprite about two blocks from Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. Located at Broadway and W. 27th, James is shown in the display wearing a blank jersey as he’s about to dunk. In the past, Sprite advertising materials involving James have always shown him wearing the NBA jersey of his old team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. With the New York City billboard put up two weeks after James decided to join the Miami Heat, why didn’t Sprite include the Heat logo on the jersey he was wearing in the display? [SportsbyBrooks]
* Also: Floyd Mayweather has a $50,000 iPod? … Joe Morgan said something stupid on the air. Also, this water in my glass seems to be wet. … It’s the NBA Free Agency Price is Right!
