Philadelphia soccer fans are tasteful and dignified (ha … not really)

Manchester United — English soccer’s version of Justin Bieber — are on a U.S. tour, and took on nascent MLS franchise Philadelphia Union on Wednesday at Lincoln Financial Field. And in case you’re wondering of Philly soccer fans are more genteel than their football, baseball or hockey brethren, wonder no more. From WizWit.com, a Philadelphia sports blog:
According to the Philadelphia Union Facebook page, the Sons of Ben (our cheering section) held s*** down for Philly and massaged the ears of the Man U players and fans all night with “You Suck A******” chants and other miscellaneous vulgarities.
And from the Philadelphia Union Facebook page:
Trust me, the You Suck one is one of the more milder that the SoB’s chant. We were seated in that section last night, I have never heard so much profanity, it really is lower class, but then again, so is most of the city.
Man U won, 1-0, although by all accounts Philadelphia Union played really well. Here’s Unprofessional Foul’s live blog of the game. But by all accounts, the real fun was in the stands.
All well and good; it’s a start. But soccer will never truly catch on in the U.S. until fans start vomiting on one another.

That chant could fit some “journalists” as well. I mean how played out is the whole bashing of Philly fans anyway. Facebook entries from fans are now news?? I guess when it’s about “low class” philly fans it is..

Jonny — because investigating other teams’ fans would actually constitute a NEW story, and would shatter the illusion that Philly has the only rowdy fans in America. You think a hack blogger degenerate like this guy is would dare have a new, non-trite thought? Of course not.
How bout this, I’ll even write the article for you, you just fill in the details — every week you review a new city’s fans through the same glasses that you created this article. Same everything. Then tell everyone how different they are from each other.
