Thierry Henry endures the worst soccer interview ever

You get a very bad feeling about this “Good Day New York” Fox 5 interview with Thierry Henry when the first question by co-host Rosanna Scotto begins: “So you just won the World Cup, right? So now you’re here …” Krikey. No team ever less won the World Cup than France did in South Africa … their stinkitude even made them villains in their own country. And besides, Henry barely played. But believe it or not, this interview gets even worse from there. Henry, of course, just signed a four-year deal with the New York Red Bulls, but one of the hazards of playing in this country that he hadn’t counted on was dealing with the perky, vegetable-grade dumbness of hosts Scotto and Greg Kelly. The U.S. just took about five giant steps back in credibility among world soccer fans with this fiasco.

As bad as the questions are, however, my favorite part of this the tech production. They rerun the same clip in the background about four times, and the one they happen to use is Thierry’s notorious hand ball against Ireland in the Cup qualifying tournament. Ouch.

So Henry left Europe because of the racism? This video needs a laugh track.

    i….am….speechless.
    as one of the lone white american soccer fans in this country (i’m still the only one, right? hello? anyone? okay, just checking…), this is hands-down the worst interview i have ever seen.
    i almost feel like this was a joke. like this was just a scripted laugher to introduce henry to america.
    this just CAN’T be real. it just can’t be!

    Hey y’all…you KNOW this is FOX, right? Apparently they haven’t cornered the market on intelligence! I think they should stick to entertainment, since it’s the only thing they’re good at.

    Here we are in America trying to gain respect in the world for playing the game, and these two dim wits let the world know we are even dumber than they thought we were. MORONS!!!!! – obviously never even tried prepping for the interview. First Obama embarassing us on the world stage, and now this – great job Fox.

    Actually the dummest question was “when does the season start” to which Henry replied, it’s already half way through. So much for knowing about their local team!!!
