Love him or hate him, LeBron James finds himself in the news for everything he does these days, so it should be little surprise there are rumors circulating regarding the former King of Cleveland’s plan to purchase a $50 million mansion in Coral Gables, FL. The 6-foot-8 forward with Jerry West’s game and Kanye West’s closet seems intent on living large in the state of Florida, as evidenced by his oft-dissected decision to use “South Beach” instead of “Miami” when announcing his decision, on, appropriately enough, The Decision.
LeBron has to live somewhere like the rest of us, and with his massive endorsement deals he can certainly swing the mortgage on the 8 bedroom, 11 bathroom estate (looks like 3 entourage members have to sleep in a tub). Where this gets interesting is that Pat Riley, NBA mastermind/supervillian and LBJ’s new boss, once owned the same property.
Prior to Potamkin’s ownership, Pat Riley, the Heat’s president, called it home, which could influence LeBron’s decision.
Hmm, LeBron James’ important decision on where to move being influenced by a key member of the Heat? Where have I heard that before?
The biggest upset here is that LeBron, Wade, and Bosh didn’t all go in on a 3-bedroom condo where they could spend all night giggling, playing video games, and arguing which one of them gets to marry Justin Bieber.
Here’s hoping Lebron enjoys his new abode, because on one hand, he’s really missing out — that same 50 million which got him a 20,000 sq ft house probably could have gotten him half of downtown Cleveland (or a really nice studio apartment in New York).
The only question now is how long it takes him to put a title on the mantle.

It’s hard to believe this guy was such a squeaky clean hero in Ohio. We have all those midwest values and wanted to believe in someone going all out for home and family. We saved up for the shoes and jerseys and game tickets to see our hero.
Yes, he had a gigantic, seemingly obscene paycheck, but all bball players do–and he was so into the area charity scene.
Now we see pictures of him partying with his two wingmen, buying the type of house no human being needs, in short becoming a stereotype for excess.
To think he could destroy the reputation/brand so fast.
I figured he’d lay low and pull a Tiger. But no, he’s full speed downward.
It’s really too bad. And what’s really sad is that some part of me wanted to still believe it was just one bad decision by a guy who didn’t know how to break bad news.

What are the odds on how long it’ll be before his name is on a police blotter?
