The DNA tests must be in — was Maury Povich on the premises? — because Landon Donovan is now flatly denying that he fathered a child with a British woman. It’s not often that a reporter gets an exclusive on the red carpet of an awards show, but give the kudos to Ashlan Gorse of E! Online:
The U.S. soccer stud, speaking with E! News on the ESPY Awards red carpet Wednesday, flatly denied fathering a child with a British woman while he was on loan to the English Premier League club Everton earlier this year.
“I actually wasn’t sure I was going to asked but I know now that I will not be a dad any time soon, which is good news for me,” Donovan said. “You just broke the story.”
I knitted this tiny “Dive Right In” U.S. team bib for nothing?
When last we left Mr. Donovan (pictured here with ex-wife Bianca Kajlich at Wednesday’s ESPYs), he was telling Sports Illustrated “I was informed of the possibility during the World Cup, and if I need to take responsibility, then I will provide the appropriate support. This is a private matter and I will refrain from further comment at this time.”
Nice work, E! Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for my call to be a guest on Chelsea Lately.

Interesting how Kajlich has no trouble being the EX-Mrs.-Soccer-Guy, but at the highest profile sports award show in America, mysteriously, there she is! I’m sure he has no trouble having the eye-candy hanging on his arm either, but come on… can the so-called “elite”, be it athletes or celebrities, have more screwed up personal lives?

Florida727, I couldn’t have said it better myself! I did a double-take when I saw “Wednesday’s ESPYs” in the caption. I figured this was just a file photo from some prior year’s event.

A story ran during the World Cup that Donovan and his wife were working a reconciliation. Hopefully everything works out for them.

These over paid athletes should keep their pants up and use the head that’s above their belt line. WHO CARES! If they want to play around let them pay and pay and pay.
