Little league baseball coach teaches player valuable lesson…with his fist

There are many valuable lessons a child can take away simply by playing little league baseball: the importance of exercise and the joys of playing outside, sportsmanship, the concept of team and in this particular case, how to take a punch from your father/coach.
At least that was the experience earlier this week for one poor little leaguer in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania after his dad, who is also the coach of the team, allegedly struck his 9-year-old son after the boy was ejected for throwing his helmet. Jebus.
Via the AP report:
Police charged Ray Boudreau of suburban Harrisburg after he allegedly struck his son twice with a closed fist at Monday’s game.
Defense lawyer Brian Perry says Boudreau handled the situation poorly but struck the boy on the back. Boudreau has a hearing scheduled for July 27.
Court papers say the umpire and scorekeeper called police, who arrested Boudreau at his Enola home. An officer says he observed redness on the boy’s face.
Perry says Boudreau spent Monday night in jail. He says the boy was ejected for throwing his helmet after being thrown out at third base.
Nice. You know, there isn’t much to add to this story other than if we need an example of why the world of youth sports is going to hell in a handbasket, we needn’t look any further than the despicable display of reprehensible behavior by this colossal douchebag. Unbelievable.
