* Good Thing 8-Year-Old Autograph Hound Did Not Ask Tiger Woods About His Private Life. Pictured right is eight-year-old Ava Mulhall, an incredibly courageous little girl who braved a sound tasering by breaking through security in order to obtain the autograph of her hero, Tiger Woods, during the JP McManus Celebrity Pro-Am at the Adare Manor golf course in Limerick, Ireland. Via The Sun: Little Ava, who has been playing golf for over a year, already had her card signed by 19 other big-name players. After bagging Tiger’s autograph, she said: “I’m delighted and I’m very proud.” Father Colin, a tax consultant, admitted he gave his daughter a little advice before she breached the security lines. “I told her to run like hell, smile politely and say ‘thank you’,” he said. * A Contender for Name of the Year: God’s Gift Achiuwa. Last Friday, Brian Cook wrote about future Tulane football player Fudge Van Hooser as a strong candidate in the Name of the Year race. It is indeed a worthy entry, but I’d like to one-up Cook with Nigerian hoopster: God’s Gift Achiuwa. [The Sporting Blog]

* Satchel Or Man Purse? Ask Former Seton Hall Coach. Michael J. Fensom of the Newark Star-Ledger reports Tuesday that former Seton Hall basketball coach Bobby Gonzalez was charged with shoplifting and criminal mischief for, “the alleged theft of a men’s satchel from the Polo Ralph Lauren store in Short Hills Mall on June 29.” [SportsbyBrooks]
* Five-Year-Old Insults Brandon Marshall, Summarily Swung Around By His Ankles. On Friday a tiny little five-year-old made noted football crybaby Brandon Marshall look a fool at his own football camp after Marshall attempted to calm down the young lad’s unruly behavior. Marshall proceeded to swing the poor kid around by his ankles in front of the rest of his campers, but to be fair he probably only did that because he got caught up in imagining the five-year-old as Josh McDaniels. So you think woods should learn to lie, cheat, steal, be an adulterer from JFK? That he should start wars and create national disasters. You are all ****** up. At the very least woods is showing a modicum of shame and concious. Something JFK never had. His old man bought him the election and was a rum runner. As so many athletes woods let his fame go to his head and his *****. Micky Mantle is a prime example. But to say that woods should lie, further shame himself with his betrayals to a beautiful woman who is the mother of his kids makes you a mark for a deceitful lying scumbag.

While I can admit that I read a lot of sports articles and some of yours included, I find your fasination with bashing Tiger a bit worrisome. I have no problem admitting he is guilty of some moral infractions against his marriage, poor choice of women he dealt with, and lack of CYA when it came to keeping all these women in check, I have yet to figure out why you feel he deserves such a public flogging.
Now lets compare for a second: He is notably one of the best golfers to ever swing a club, but his occupation is one of entertainment. None of his decisions or his play would have an adverse affect on our lives personally. Yet men like John Edwards, who was running for PRESIDENT!!! Had an affair on his wife who was and still is battling terminal cancer and had a child from that affair. No one is writing constant article after article listing every bit of dirt possible on him and he would have been in control of one of the most powerful nations standing right now. His decisions would have affected every last american citizen from young to old… What gives? why no public opinion lynching for him??
Mark Sanford, South Carolina’s govenor! He cheated on his wife of numerous years, he used tax payers money to commute to meet up with his mistress and ended up in a divorce because his wife should “understand and respect that his mistress is his soul mate”!!
Again, a man with an entire state and its citizens hinging on his decisions!
So Rick, please explain to one of your readers why you feel the need to constantly submit articles drumming up more and more discontent for Tiger? Are you jealous of his game, his money, or the type of women he’s able to attract?
