Desperate Spain fakes World Cup octopus prediction

By now you’ve heard of the terrifying powers of Paul the Octopus, who has correctly predicted five straight World Cup outcomes involving Germany. The Spanish were overjoyed late Sunday when a story leaked on the Internets — complete with photo — that Paul had predicted Spain would beat Germany in their semifinal match in Durban on Wednesday. But then online conspiracy theorists took a closer look at the photo, and … Man kann es nicht glauben! The new Paul photo appears to be a fake! (Check out the comments section to this story).
Compare the Getty file photo, top, which was taken when Paul chose Serbia over Germany earlier in the tournament, to the one below it. There is nothing lower than a World Cup octopus Photoshop faker.


As you can see, that isn’t even a proper Spanish flag.
Paul won’t actually make his prediction, says the Sea Life Aquarium in Oberhauser, Germany, until Tuesday. And it will be accompanied by a video.
Meanwhile, no one gives a fig about my pet squid’s opinion that LeBron will stay in Cleveland.

    well, paul has a record of being 100% wrong whenever it had to predict germany vs spain (see 2008). so all is good from a german perspective.

    MY POINT IS HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THE SERBIA ONE IS AN ORIGINAL……. HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THE SPAIN ONE IS A FAKE??? ……. I THINK PEOPLE WHO R AGAINST SPAIN ARE DESPERATE TO MAKE SPAIN LOSE THAT THEY EDITED THE SPAIN FLAG AND PUT A SERBIA FLAG THERE :P

    germany will crush spain,
    this octopus is only right 80% of the time.
    it makes sense statistically that he picked spain since there is only 2 more games, this leaves the 20% margin error , remember what happened in 2008?
    this time paul picked the looser.
    you dont even have to pay attention to this octopus, argentina is 3 times better than spain will ever be, and still they couldn’t defeat germany,
    so spain can only hope for a 3rd place , if uruguay allows it.

    The photo has clearly been faked, but this morning Paul DID actually pick Spain to beat Germany. the flag in the video footage was completely different from this one and had the Spanish coat of arms on it…

    Sorry folks. Better check the CNN video cause Paul picked Spain and the flag is real. As of this moment a lot of people have Paul in their sights…on a dinner table.

    why on earth people believe with this kind of stuff…u know…when there is a game….we should look based on their skills,strategy,stamina & etc…not based on the funny octopus…the game just now..we can see that germany too cautious and they lost their strategy and espana win bcoz of corner kick..+ the referee are sucks…anyway…this octopus…wasn’t what u guys think.

    Well, what can I say about your title “Desperate Spain fakes World Cup octopus prediction”. Rude, but: (1) If a Spaniard had done it, they would at least have gotten the flag right; and (2) The octopus then predicted a Spain win anyway and (3) Guess who won today :)

    Alot of ppl say these games are fixed, that the winner is alrdy chosen and its a huge scam to get money(with bets).I actually can’t say that it’s not true, although i don’t want to believe that, u never know what ppl are doing behind our backs…and it’s possible that the octupus is mainly right cause the germans lure it into the right one somehow, since they alrdy know the winner according to alot of people.
