Reports: Tiger divorce settlement much cheaper than $750 million

The $750 million divorce settlement figure that Elin Nordegren is about to receive, as reported by several sources, may be wrong, says both Forbes Magazine and TMZ.com. TMZ, citing its own anonymous sources, claims that Elin will not get anything close to that; although the amount she will collect in the deal is still far greater than what she would have received by the terms of their prenup.
As with other reports, however, TMZ agrees that the divorce is signed and ready to go, just needing to be officially filed with the Orlando court.

We’re told Elin will not get near the reported $750 million in the settlement. As one source put it, “Tiger isn’t even worth that much.”

The source added, however, “She’ll do a lot better than she would have under the prenup.”

In May, 2009, Forbes estimated Tiger’s worth at $600 million.

My guess? Tiger was being embarrassed by the $750 million figure that was floating around, and directed his camp to leak a lower number. But what do I know? I also bet on Portugal to win the World Cup.
Kurt Badenhausen, author of the Sports Money blog at Forbes, does not agree with me.

The London Sun is reporting that Tiger Woods and wife Elin have reached a divorce settlement worth $750 million in exchange for her silence about her marriage to Woods (not sure what type of sordid stories she could possibly tell that we have not already heard from various Woods paramours). The settlement would imply that Woods is worth at least $1.5 billion. Is Tiger really worth that much? Not by our count.

The Sun reported that Elin’s lawyers “did a good job” of digging up all of Tiger’s assets, which is why the settlement is so high. But now there’s doubt in the water, so we may never know for sure. Unless Tiger’s SUV collides with another tree and the divorce papers fly out.

    Elin is being way way overpaid! She should stick to the prenup + some “penality” thats REASONABLE… AND STILL AGREE TO KEEP QUITE. The way this is going makes it look like LEGALIZED BLACKMAIL.

    Still, great pay for a gold digger. If they did it every day for 5 years, that’s $350,000 per pop for her, if the settlement is 750m. If it’s half, she made $175,000.

    Excuse me Bob. Why should she stick to the prenup? If she had been the one for the marriage to fail then I would concur. I have no idea how much she will get which is really none of our business. Plain and simple, the guy was unfaithful on numerous occasions and he wants to be sure the press is not cognizant of any thing else we may have missed about his life.

    Elin deserves every penny and more! Go Elin! She is a classy lady and her children are lucky to have a mother like her. As they grow older, they will read all of the disgusting stuff about their father, and know that their mother was a Class Act!

    Whatever Elin will finally get, she deserved every penny of it. Woods has done too much damage to her and the children. He needs to be punished. I just hope Elin will use the money wisely to raise the children. Those children will be much better off in Switzerland as they probably will not be hounded everywhere by tabloids.

    She shouldn’t get a dime more than prenup. If she was as hot in bed as she looked in a bathing suit 10 years ago, there wouldn’t be a divorse. Tiger better find a freak in the sheets wife and live happily ever after….AND START WINNING SOME TOURNAMENTS

    She should stick to it because if she signed it, there are legal implications should she attempt to break it. Of course it also depends on what terms the prenup laid down, fault, no-fault, whatever.
    Regardless of how unfaithful Tiger was, that doesn’t give Elin the right to be a gold-digging opportunist, ie taking him for more than she deserves. How much money did she bring into the marriage? Not much. Tiger was the one out there earning as a result of the skills he honed since he was a little kid. Morally, she has no “right” to any of that money. Legally, she really only deserves what she needs to live while supporting the kids–she sure as heck doesn’t need $750,000,000 for that. Pain and suffering? Sure, some for that too. But it’s not like he was beating her with a golf club. And for all we know she might have turned into a frigid b*tch after she popped out his kids (or not). Point is that it sets a very bad precedent for every other divorce if she gets far in excess of what she actually needs, and that in turn will lead to more hostile prenups and divorce proceedings, and probably deter more people from wanting to risk marriage in the first place. The fact of the matter is, around 50% of all marriages in the U.S. end in divorce, and around 50% of married women and 60% of married men will have an affair at some point. Human beings are not monogamous by nature, and neither sex should profit inordinately from the other when Nature rears its head in the form of adultery.

    She’s got about the same pre & post-marital rep that Nicole Brown Simpson had, so how has Tiger damaged “her and the children”? She’s a known-trashy commodity on both the domestic and European markets, so who would want to ask for her hand next? Well, maybe some wealthy Brit who needs more public recognition?

    I’m not sure whats better, $750,000,000 and can’t talk about Tiger ever or less money and have fun doing interviews shredding him publically and making money for the interviews? Elin has too much class to talk about him though. The people who comment on she is a gold digger or it’s too much money for her are of course all MEN and PIGS I am sure of it. You all think with your d–ks and thats why you get in this trouble.
    Elin deserves to find a great guy to treat her wonderful and her children can have a father that is not a PIG!!!

    We don’t know what was in the prenup. Tiger has lawyers too, you know. There may have been a clause regarding infidelity – who knows? Maybe she is getting more than the prenup in exchange for not writing a tell-all book. I am sure Tiger’s lawyers did the best they could. We will never know. Elin is a great mother and has done nothing to shame her children. They will love and respect her. I don’t know how they can ever respect their father.

    Give me a break. He needs to be punished three-quarter’s of a billion dollars? I could see if she made a contribution towards building their wealth during their marriage but, she didn’t. His only obligation is to his children and to his pre-nuptial. If she’s so “classy”, she’ll take the pre-agreed amount (which I’m sure is generous) and won’t slander him because he’s still the father of her children. How much does this man have to be punished? Anyone who thinks this is fair is gold-diggin vulture (including her).

    I am a married and a man and fully support Elin and everything she gets. Tiger lied and cheated. He should be forced to pay…he is a scumbag and needed to be punished. He should have kept his little putter in his pants…Besides, he can earn it back if he gets his act together.

    I think a prenup should be what it is and not be contested, UNLESS one cheats or is deceitful to the marriage, which he was. Then I feel it’s a whole different situation. She lived up to her deal as a wife but he didn’t so he should have to pay from the pocket for all the fun he had at her expense. Can you imagine how she feels??? Not one, two or even three women but many?!! She should call the shots and he should be happy he gets to go be the man whore that he is.

    So by your definition of “PIGS”, you must therefore also feel the same way about women who do the same thing, yes? And if you don’t, think about all those women who willingly slept with Tiger EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW HE WAS MARRIED. Women are no better than men.
    And if you’d bothered to read my original post closely enough, you’d understand that more than half of the people in this country therefore fall into your definition of “PIGS”. Nature and Human Nature are what they are. If people would just wake up to the reality of that fact, there would be whole lot less angst and heartbreak out there when it comes to marriage. Marriage isn’t natural for humans, and neither is monogamy. Love is a social disease.

    Man…. I would just like to date her once!!! Not only is she my type but she can pay for dinner too… Only question I have is what to buy a lady with that kind of money for her birthday!! WOW!!
    Really though….. She should get half of what was made during their marraige… Not a penny more or less!! Just like any couple going through any divorce, 50/50 no matter who cheated or whatever…!!! So give her 375 and call it a day!! I still wanna date her though!! ;)
