Firm date for Pacquiao-Mayweather fight?

According to this tweet from Comcast sports reporter Molly E. Sullivan, the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight of myth and legend is suddenly becoming real; all set for late November in Las Vegas. Sullivan:

Remember the days when news like this was reported by TV sports anchors with enormous hair?
Anyway, this fight appears to be on. Who ya got?


When last we left this fun couple, Mayweather’s people were accusing Pacquiao of using steroids, and the Pacquiao camp was threatening to sue Mayweather for defamation. The two couldn’t agree on when and where to conduct pre-fight and after-fight drug testing, and things devolved into both fighters calling each other poo-poo heads.
Since then (around Christmas time of last year), Pacquiao was elected to the Philippines House of Representatives, and then defeated Joshua Clottey for the IBF World Welterweight title. And Mayweather beat Shane Mosley for the WBA World Welterweight title.
The telling numbers were these: Pacquiao got only 700,000 pay per view buys for his fight with Clottey, a relatively small number for a fighter of his stature. Mayweather-Mosely got 1.4 million. So perhaps now Manny is willing to be a little more flexible with the drug testing demands? Maybe.

    Great article however only one flaw, Pacquiao Never fought Clottey for his International Boxing Federation welterweight title. Clottey was forced to vacate that belt before he took the WBO challenge with Miguel Cotto that he lost.

    Who ever thinks mayweather is going to win lol is wrong just look at maywwather when he fought Oscar he could of berly took the guy and look when pacman fought Oscar pacman destroyed him so come on may. fans be realistic about mayweather getting his ass beat by the best fighter there is out there.

    and plus people look were they fighting vegas why cause May. wont fight anywhere else because may. has the advantage in vegas cause hes representing it so of course if pacman doesnt knock him out there going to give it to mayweather because if they dont it will be a dissapointed for all the rich people who want may. to represent vegas thats why steve wynn is making his own ring just to see mayweather representing it…

    I sure wish the fight would happen so I can take money from the jokers who dream Mayweather can beat Pacqiao. The more of them, the better as the odds will get me more money. Unfortunately, the fight will never happen. Floyd won’t use the drug ruse to escape this time, but he’s got three more outs 1) He’ll demand 10 pound gloves; or 2) A ring the size of a circus tent; or 3) 99% of the purse.
    Who the He11 enjoys watching Mayweather dance. I prefer to see a fight.

    Defense, Scorecards? what PBF plans to gas out Manny? not a good idea, Manny could do 50 rounds of boxing…
    If this fight happens, and if Floyd goes defense all the way and not engage, we’ll probably see a replay of a Pacman-Clottey fight…

I definitely agree with you Stan, we do not want to see Mayweather dancing, we want him to fight! That is a real fighter! So we do not want a ring as huge as Mayweather’s ego and cockiness!

    Mayweather wants 60/40 because he got more PPV buys fighting Mosely, and Pacquiao got smaller PPV buys fighting against CLOTTEY.
    NOW…..if you think about it the real reason Mayweather got more PPV numbers is because of Mosely, if Pacquiao fought Mosely the number of PPV could had even been higher then Mayweather vs Mosely. And if Mayweather had fought Clottey the PPV number could had been smaller then Pacquiao vs Clottey. For Mayweather to ask for 60/40 is just not fair and it doesn’t make sense. Is this guy really scare of taking this fight on or what? I mean even former boxer JAMES TONEY which you can see on youtube question what’s up with Mayweather. He asked Mayweather….”What’s up? you said you are the best then why ain’t you fighting the man then, stop making excuses and fight the man”.
    At the end of the day I know Mayweather will take the fight, I just hope he doesn’t get what he wants …..60/40 it’s just fair these two GREATS split 50/50

    that’s just ridiculous about Floyd being afraid like he said he’s the cash cow and wants to get paid, if there was anytime to be afraid would have been against Mosley, and you see what he did to him. If they decide to fight he’ll beat him he’s to big too fast too smart, no one is discreditng Manny stop hating on Floyd he deserves top pay over his opponents cuz he’s the bigger name and hypes the fight which in essence makes potentially more money for his opponents as well.

    a true champion says who is next and fights the best, as tyson did,and every other true champion did. mayweather is no champion and is only ducking a better fighter. mayweathers license should be revoked for being a coward and ducking the best. when and IF he ever fights pac man he will be booed by his fellow americans for making the sport and american fighters look bad. americans are fed up with mayweather games. mayweather is nothing more than a scared little rich black boy, hiding and ducking with every excuse possible, not to be exposed as the little coward he really is. maybe mayweather should fight Prince so he remains undefeated.
