Email I received a few minutes ago (because Google is so great at filtering spam), and my reply:
Dear,

I am Benjamin Guei;the first Son of an ex military/ex president been an opposition party to the present Government of COTE D`IVOIRE. On the 19th sept 2002 my father/mother including every members of our family was murdered by the unknown REBELS during the time they attack our house by shooting and looting, even . God so kind, I was not in town when the incident occurred, the plans of the REBELS is to kill every members of our family so that no one will rise up to revenge as time goes on.

I am in our country without anyone knowing, although I am on hiding so that the unknown REBELS will not get to me and kill me like they killed all the members of our family. The reason I still stay back in our country is to transfer the $5.5mUSD which my late father, deposited in one of the Foreign Bank here in Abidjan Ivory coast West Africa, which he disguised and declared as fund belonging to his Foreign Business partner, but he did not disclose any contact or name to the, that was for security purpose to avoid raising eyebrow.

… You will receive 15 percent of the proceeds … please provide phone number, bank account info, etc., etc. …

REPLY:
I am Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, otherwise known as Brazilian football star Kaka. On the 20 jun 2010 I was sent off with a red card in our World Cup game with COTE D`IVOIRE when your Kader Keita fell to the ground clutching his face. God is so kind, neither my hand or elbow was in town when this occurred; but still I received a red card, even though replays show I clearly did not touch him. That was one of the most egregious examples of fakery in this history of football, and this is one of the things that contributed to the present crisis in our sport today. The plans of FIFA is to kill their sport by not bringing in instant replay, so that these injustices do not occur. So I will send you my bank information if you send me a photo of Keita kissing a pair of soccer cleats, with a note indicating that he is sorry.

Oh, and Maradona can suck it, and keep on sucking it. Sincerely, Kaka.

Can you please direct me to the area of the email that mentions it originating in Nigeria? It is my experience that a lot of these emails are being sent from S. Africa, Russia etc.
But for the sake of generalizations, they are all being called Nigerian email Scam.
Where does it mention it originating there? Even if it did mention Nigeria, are we not smart enough to know that emails can be sent from anywhere?

“Nigerian, South Africa, Russia, Emails Can Be Sent From Anywhere” scam wouldn’t fit in the headline
