Not that there’s anything wrong with it.
Throughout the World Cup, Argentina’s head coach Diego Maradona has displayed unabashed enthusiasm when showing his pleasure with his team’s play and he isn’t afraid to get physical, as you can clearly see to the right. But do not think for one second that Maradona is now – ahem – “playing for the other team,” in the parlance of our times.
When pressed about his handsy approach with his players by a reporter, Maradona quashed any concerns regarding his unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality (via The Telegraph):
“I love women… so people don’t think I’ve turned over,” Maradona exclaimed with wide eyes, making a gesture with his hand, before adding: “I prefer women. I am dating Veronica, she is 31 years old, she is blonde, she is beautiful.”
I’m sure she is, Diego. I’m sure she is. But I thought Betty was the blonde one and Veronica was actually a brunette. Learn something new everyday, I guess. But if he really wants the curious public to be thoroughly convinced, he should have chugged a beer and farted immediately after making that statement. Only then we would have known for sure.

I think americans need to get there head out there ass and stop always thinking the worst in a person. The man is happy that the team he is representing is winning, and u people look at his emotion as being gay , pathetic…

I think it’s funny that you refer to someone being gay as “assuming the worst in someone.”
Maybe you need to pull your head out of your own ass because the Telegraph is a British newspaper.
Obviously this is a fluff piece. Why don’t you stop being so sensitive and pick up a newspaper with actual stories?

Let me join the pile on. The author writes: playing for the — ahem — other team “in the parlance of our time.” What time would that be, Jack? Get over being freaked out by other people’s sex lives and join the rest of us in the 21st Century.

What hope is there for us in this 21st century when we are still fixated on a person’s sexuality? How much more history laden with misery, catastrophe (natural and at the hands of humanity) and lessons unlearned will we suffer until we focus on what is really important in our lives as citizens of the world? All of this palaver is truly irrelevant.

Ok, it’s interesting that before making such an exclamation about someone else’s sexuality you should have learnt a little more about how argentineans and some other latin american citizens shows their enthuasiasm. In Argentina men usually kiss each other as a greeting (in their cheeks, not their mouths) and hug other men. Women do the same. And, apart from this, he was surprised that someone ask about his sexual life when people wanted to know about his team’s performance in the last game.
