That ain't good: British HD channel went to commercial right before England's goal

British cable channel ITV is frantically playing their “Oops” card and profusely apologizing to their subscribers after the network went to commercial right before Steven Garrard’s tally put England up 1-0 during the first half of their matchup with the U.S. on Saturday. From The Guardian:
The ITV1 presenter Adrian Chiles apologised to viewers during the half-time break. He said: “Apologies for those watching in HD. I believe there was some interruption in your coverage.”
An ITV spokeswoman said: “A transmission problem temporarily affected ITV1′s HD service during the England-USA match. ITV standard definition service continued uninterrupted. We apologise for the interruption in transmission.”Viewers reported that in the early stages of the match the coverage had suddenly switched to an advert. When live coverage returned viewers found they had missed Gerrard’s opening goal against the USA.
Yeah. Oops. There are far things more annoying when the cable or satellite craps out and you end up missing something important, like who was eliminated on So You Think You Can Dance? You know, life or death matters like that. ITV? More like NOTV, amirite? No? Sigh. That doesn’t even make sense, you say? Nevermind.

I agree, there are things far more annoying. Like those stupid buzzing horns that the South African fans are using during every second of every match. It’s so bad, that I can’t watch (or listen on my XM radio)without getting a major headache. Another reason to not watch or care about soccer. Oh well, I tried, I really tried to checkout what is so “special” about the game.
