Never has Morrissey’s lyrics been more prescient, more apropos, something not lost on New York Daily News writer Jesse Spector, who speculated that the London rags are going to have a field day with the so-called “Regret at Rustenberg.” I doubt there are few people in the world right now who wished they had the ability to become completely invisible more than England’s goalie Robert Green after giving up one helluva gift goal to Clint Dempsey which tied the score 1-1. Well, maybe Tiger Woods might wish to be invisible more than Green, but that’s only so he could sneak into the women’s locker room to look at naked ladies.
Moving on, Spector’s speculation that the London tabloids will use England’s tie with the U.S. as fodder for some old-fashioned “panic” was spot on. Evidence after the jump.
