Fun fact: Robert Smigel, the man behind Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, is also one of the original Bill Swerski’s Superfans from the Saturday Night Live “Da Bears” sketch. Triumph’s video appearance was one of the highlights of Conan O’Brien’s comedy tour stop at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia, wherein Conan took the stage wearing a Flyers’ jersey … as did Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio. (In case you’ve forgotten, Game 6 is tonight Wednesday). Also, gratuitous Tina Fey. Fun times. Wonder if the beer-guzzling toddler was there?
Triumph was in rare form: “I’m the only dog that hasn’t been banged by Tiger Woods or Jesse James.” There’s also an Allen Iverson joke in there (check out the third video at The 700 Level).
