Jim Joyce's son does not appreciate your death threats

Meanwhile, over at the Facebook page of Jim Joyce’s son, all kinds of fun things must be going on. Because Jimmy Joyce has basically told everyone to f*** off, especially those who have been making “death threats” against his father. (A closer look at the page here). Also on the young Joyce’s enemy list is ESPN, which has become the 24-hour Jim Joyce screwup channel, obviously. Jim Joyce lives in Beaverton, Ore., and his son is an assistant high school football coach in the Portland area.
Following the jump, great video of a West Virginia Tigers fan watching the play with his four young children.

There is nothing like the bonding that occurs between a father and his four children while watching a blown call on TV. “You’re like a judge in Putnam County, you think you know everything but you know nothing!” Best part: the pleas by the youngest son to “Let’s just go.” that are ignored by dad.
At last count there were more than 500 anti-Jim Joyce Facebook groups. Also, Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm has declared a perfect game. Do you, like me, get the feeling she barely knows what sport she’s talking about?

Ok — death threats are going way overboard. Umpires are human and the game of baseball is and should be a human game. I do however think that umpires should be held accountable –if they make a mistake or take the authority to far –they should be fined just as players or managers or coaches are fined. So –instant replay in baseball should be allowed –just as in the NFL. If without a doubt they can see it –the play should be overturned. But if they cannot see –then the play stands. And maybe more than just the main umpire behind the plate be in on the review. Just seems like lately there have been a lot of bad plays by umpires and some umpires who are too quick to eject people from the games.
And yes –I am a mother of a baseball player and I do know what the game is all about. I love baseball.

Geez, while I can understand his anger, I’m glad my kids aren’t being coached by this guy. Maybe tone the language down a bit, though, again, I understand the agitation.

Suspaned the Ump. There is never a play in any sport where a player can cost an official money. There are many times where a bad call can cost a player money. The egotistical morons called umpires don’t seem to realize this. Why is the pitcher taking the lineup card to homeplate before the next game? To make some silly PC show that all is OK. I would have laid the lineup card on the ground to see if the blind ump could find it. What a bunch of Mister Rogers crap. I hope he gets booed at every stadium until they drive him out of baseball. Do I make mistakes? Yes. But when I do I either correct them or I pay for it. I don’t have some silly nice nice show on the field the next game. such rubbish.

The ump made a mistake on a close play in real-time, that happens. What sets Mr. Joyce apart from 80% of today’s population and 100% of our Congress, Senate and Banking community is that he admits to making a mistake and has apologized profusely for it with zero excuses. That is an uncommon trait in today’s society and I have nothing but respect for that!
When given the opportunity to reverse the call and take a huge burden off one of their umpires, Selig did today what we all knew would happen…he decided to NOT reverse it, classic MLB move. Baseball continues to shoot itself in the foot whenever given the chance. The reluctance to use any sort of replay technology in any sport where judgment calls are made has always baffled me.

I agree with Jimmy. The same nuts making death threats don’t have the balls to say it to his face, I bet. And Johnny, you’re an idiot, you have no clue what it takes to do the job these guys do. I bet you are perfect. A perfect a**.
