The once-improving condition of gored bullfighter takes a tragic turn
May 29, 2010, 12:30 PM EDT
After having his condition stabilize to such an extent he was released from the hospital, a serious infection has forced bullfighter Julio Aparicio back to intensive care and it isn’t looking good.
From an NBC Sports/AP report:
Aparicio had left the unit and was recovering well on Monday following surgery to reconstruct his throat, mouth and palate, but outbreak of an infection forced a return to the unit where doctors placed him on mechanically assisted breathing, October 12 Hospital said.
In a statement released Saturday the hospital says Aparicio is now breathing normally and it describes his condition as “grave” but stable.
That is simply terrible news. Here’s to Aparicio’s recovery, no matter which side of the fence we happen to find ourselves on regarding bullfighting,

Glad to hear it and hope this bastard dies a painful death. Heard he cut the ears off other bulls. Glad this bull gored him and hope he dies. This is an insane sport and should be stopped.

Reminds me of the old adage, “you (bleep) with the bull, you’re gonna get the horn”…

My comment has to do with showing this image. In the slideshow on the msnbc opening page a warning was given to viewers that this picture was graphic, potentially quite disturbing and the opportunity of skipping it was provided.
Especially as many kids are so interested in sports, I would have hoped the same procedure would have been followed in this location as well.
I hasten to add that I hardly consider myself any sort of “Movie Mom” (or more appropriately Dad in my case) but seeing how my own kids react to various visual offerings does motivate my remarks.

I have always rooted for the bull. There is a You tube display of a matador getting gored right up the anus. All of us have heard the term..”I’ll tear you a new asshole..” and You tube has just such a picture. Check it out. This latest goring of the bull through this “brave matador’s” neck and mouth has been set as BACKGROUND on my computer and will remain there for a long time.

I don’t agree with bullfighting. I think it’s an uneccesary sport; however I would never wish someone dead no matter what they do. You wish him dead because of what he does? Well you are no better than he is by doing that. Unbelievable!

To wish another human being dead for any reason at all is no better than the acts of these matadors. I certainly do not approve of what they are doing but do you share that opinion for the millions worldwide who kill for sport?

All of those that are saying’to wish another human being dead for any reason at all is no better than the acts of these matadors.’(and similar statements) need a new and better argument. To WISH someone/something dead is NOT even remotely close to being as bad as hurting & killing an animal just for pure entertainment of the masses. Even the act of publicly stating such nonsense makes anyone with half a Brain, and any rational thought process, embarrassed for you. I’m embarrassed for you.
Stop for a minute and think about what you’re saying………………………….
OK. A recap. You’re saying that killing a caged animal for fun(a physical act of violence) is no worse than just hoping(NOT a physical act of violence) the animal killer meets the same fate as the animal he’s killed/killing.
Does that make sense to Anyone? …I’m just gonna stop here, common sense should take over from here.

Me too!! How perfect a shot! And I also love the bull-n-butt shot. Ole and I truly think the bull should have been given one of the guy’s ears as a memento. Fair’s fair after all. The bull obviously won.

To Billy – well said!!
I’ll never understand why people need to kill animals for show(or in the case of bullfighting TORTURE animals to death). For food, for survival, I get it, of course. But when an animal is slowly cut to pieces in front of thousands of cheering humans, then truly which animal species is the “higher form of life”?
Food for thought…

I don’t wish him dead. But I’d be tickled if his nurses surround his sickbed as he lay helpless and jab him with pointy sticks.
