The truly great thing about this photo is not the fact that Michael Jordan is wearing a Blackhawks jersey, although that is awesome. It’s that he’s also wearing ice skates. And they’re Reeboks. Well played, whoever painstakingly put this together. Not everyone is amused, however. AOL Fanhouse hockey writer Christopher Botta, for instance, says that the jersey is very disrespectful.
It’s one thing to drape the Blackhawks’ logo and colors over just about anything — a bridge, a park bench, a skyscraper — but Jordan is a person. A Zdeno Chara jersey over the statue of Larry Bird in Boston would seem just as odd.
No, it would seem just as awesome.
Video following the jump.
Go ahead, drape the statue of my idol, Willie Mays, with Chinese flags. I don’t care. Contrary to the notes you took while watching Night at the Museum II, the Jordan statue isn’t going to come to life and ask why the hell he’s wearing a helmet.

It’s some legend who was able to put a basketball through a hoop very effectively.

Jordan never even broke the all-time scoring record for the NBA, despite retiring/returning countless times. Gretzky broke more records in less time and by more distance than any other pro athlete in history. Gretzky = an athlete. Jordan = a tall non-athlete who could drop a ball through a hoop and hoped his skin color would make him untouchable to criticism. Nice try.

WTW, your comment is so ridiculous it makes you out to be a dullard. The saddest part is that you couldn’t leave it at the silly by saying Jordan isn’t an athlete but you also had to bring color into it. Good luck with that life of yours. I am sure it is thrilling.

Phillip, how do you not know who Michael Jordan is? Thats like saying who’s Muhammad Ali.
WTW, I agree with J 100% and he didn’t just put a ball though a hoop. he was a legend in sports up there with Babe Ruth & Emmet Smith & Laryy Bird.
