Sunday Blogdome: Zach Galifianakis shows up at ballpark, hangs out with Nationals

May 23, 2010, 1:30 PM EDT

Elvis Wigs and Galifianakis at Nats Park. Also, if you hadn’t heard, The Hangover’s Zach Galifianakis showed up at Nats Park to pose for photos with players and, um, the GM. Reports indicate that the players were extremely excited about this. Hopefully the uniform folks spelled his name right. [D.C. Sports Bog]
EA Sports confirms CHL teams, players to be in NHL 11. It had been rumored for the past few weeks, but now EA Sports has made it official that for the upcoming edition of their popular NHL series all three junior leagues that make up the Canadian Hockey League will be included when the game is released in September.
As part of a four-year agreement, all 60 teams and their players from the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, along with the new RBK Edge jerseys will be featured.

Today in Philly Sports History: “BEAT L.A.! BEAT L.A.!,” 1982. So I gotta admit that I don’t really understand this: In 1982, the Sixers and Celtics were playing in their third straight conference finals, while the Celtics hadn’t played the Lakers in the NBA finals since the 60s. It was Philly that was Boston’s real rival in the early 80s, not Los Angeles. So why were they rooting us on to defeat the Lakers in the finals, during the final minutes of our ending their season in a game seven on their home floor? Does the Boston-L.A. blood feud really run that deep? Did they just not take us that seriously? I would’ve been kind of insulted if I was a Sixers fan at the time, to be honest. [The700Level]
Every Headline Having To Do With Scott Hall Being Busted For Public Intoxication Has Been Used. I can’t believe the Diamond Stud and JaMarcus Russell are now nearly the same size. Maybe if JaMarcus actually ends up in Arizona, Steve Breaston can teach him his end zone dance. It’s a shame, too. The arrest occurred just days after Hall and X-Pac made this video in which they nullify all racial discourse, shout out to a dead Luther Vandross and curse enough to make Lisa Lampanelli blush. Catching Up With “BowX,” Canada’s Hockey-Playing Rapper. It’s been a year and a half since I brought you the story of Brett McConnachie, a white, Canadian rapper who played professional hockey. As a refresher, he also goes by “p-box,” “BowX,” and most confusingly, “Brett Williams.” Last night someone randomly e-mailed requesting a follow up post on McConnachie who is currently with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL. I couldn’t find any great new developments in the story of BowX, but I did find an awesome music video for one of his songs. [The Big Lead]
