Weed Against Speed here for the Comely Female Athlete News Network (CFANN for short) reporting on the comings and goings of three of the more fetching lasses participating in the world of sport.
First off, Michelle Wie was knocked out of the Sybase Match Play Championship by top-ranked South Korean Jiyai Shin in the quarterfinals. Said Wie: “I just didn’t play that well coming in. I didn’t play as well as I wanted. I think I know exactly what I need to work on. I’m going to work hard the next two weeks and try to win.”
Next, Danica Patrick was subjected to boos from those in attendance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway after her comments blaming her car’s setup for her lackluster qualifying performance were broadcast over the track’s PA system. Patrick took in stride, saying, “I say one confident thing out there, that it’s not me, and everybody boos me. I don’t know, maybe they were booing me before, but some of them were probably cheering for me before. I’m not a different driver than I was five years ago.”
Finally, Maria Sharapova won her 22nd career tournament after vanquishing Kristina Barrois 7-5, 6-1 yesterday in the Strasbourg International final.
No matter how the above talented (and beautiful) ladies fared on their respective course, track or court recently, these lovely ladies will always be considered champions (of something or other) by yours truly.
Weed signing off.
