I don’t want to say that I have a favorite bull-goring-a-person photo, because it’s like picking a favorite from among your children; they’re all precious. Let’s just say that this one is taking a prominent spot in my collection. It happened at the Las Ventas bullring in Madrid, Spain, earlier today, as Spanish bullfighter Julio Aparicio gets ventilated through the mouth by a bull (name redacted) during the San Isidro Feria. All props to Getty/AFP photographer Alberto Simon for this image. Well done.
Sorry, but I do not know the current condition of matador, or bull. But at least one guy in Spain now knows what a trout feels like when it gets caught.
UPDATE: The bull worked this guy over pretty good. More photos, and video, following the jump.

In Spain, beef carve you.
UPDATE II: Aparicio remains hospitalized in serious condition, reports the Spanish daily El Pais, but there is no apparent brain damage.

Regarding Boston, MA…Let me see, did you see the bull?! Is that not sad or is it just acceptable to go around stabbing animals.. It’s not their fault that humans choose to do this to them he is just defending himself.. I am by no means a member of PETA but this is what happens. Now with that being said I do hope the man is ok but shouldn’t this be a lesson learned?!?!

They know the risks. bottom line. This has been going on for centuries. Sure call it a fight but god forbid if the guy gets hurt. I dont wish that on anyone its just the way it is. Great photos by the way and I hope the gentleman is O.K. Now I have to go grill these burgers on my grill. Peace-out hippies! This guy wasnt forced to go out there so I say go ahead and look. Like I said I hope he is O.K. and I will even Pray (yes I said “pray”) for him.

I agree, too bad they all don’t end that way. There’s no “fight” about it.

Living proof, you mess with the bull and you will get the horn. My empathy lies with the bull.

If it makes you feel better, all the bulls are professionally butcherd and wrap and givin to the poor right there on the spot. 100% of the meat is used and givin away to the women and children first.

I’m with you T-bone. They’ve been butchering bulls for centuries this way. And where is PETA? I say Bulls 1, matador 0. If you can’t take a gore’n, stay outta da ring!

Let’s hope the idiot dies. This is a case of the bull defending himself, and I can’t blame him one bit. The world is better off without these low-life people.

I hope the bastard dies. It isn’t a sport, it’s slaughter for fun and profit.

Bull 1 – inhumane and ridiculous “sport” of bullfighting 0. This “sport” is right up there with fox hunting, dog fighting and cock fighting. Why can’t they just race cars or beat each other up to prove the size of thier “manhood”? Why do they have to involve innocent animals who already know how big thiers are? INSTANT KARMA!!!!

I don’t care what happens to the bull fighter because if the bull hadn’t hurt him the bull fighter was going to kill the bull. Bull fighting is stupid and inhumane.

Yea, as far as i’m concerned all bull fights should end this way until they BAN THE BARBARIC SPECTACLE FOR WHAT IT IS.
Spaniards think they are so tough, they should actually go fight wars against terrorist regimes or such. Killing defenseless animals for “sport” is inexcusable. Keep the videos coming, leave the morons like yadda aside.

That matador knew the risk before getting in the ring or arena with this bull. I am betting he wishes he had taken up cross-stitching now…HAHA

Bull-fighting is a pretty inhumane way to slaughter bulls for consumption, shows a disturbing hunting instinct the way cats play with their prey. Should be banned, similar to bear-baiting, cockfights and dogfights. Maybe kick Spain out of the EU until they do, not that they weren’t anything but a liability anyhow…

Aren’t you just a f@#king saint!
I support PETA, People Eating Tasty Animals.
We didn’t fight our way to the top of the food chain to eat sprouts.
Meat is tasty!

Obviously, Rick, you are a cultural imperialist and an ugly American. How dare you impose your Anglo values on the proud Hispanic peoples? (That would be straight sarcasm if you weren’t so predictably PC. When, like here, you don’t have the sense to leave the field free when two of your cherished bumper stickers collide, then irony is a strong flavor in my dish.)
1–cultural relativism; 2–(animal liberationism? anti-vivisectionism? Bambiism? Jainism? mainline Protestantism/Chappaquaism?)
Myself, I find it funny, for quasi-Karmic reasons (what goes around, comes around). That’s why I wish the matador well, although I know that his own suffering will not change his behavior. I’m no fan of gratuitous cruelty, but I acknowledge that bullfighting is a far cry from gladiatorial contests and dogfighting. It DOES reaffirm qualities of bravery and grace under pressure that are quite central to another people’s historic sense of themselves. (May they find better means.)

This animal rights crap is just that. Animals have rights like I have antlers. I do agree that matadors are wussies and it’s nice to see the bull get the better of them now and then, plus it is a good pic. Forget the antler thing, i’ll agree to animal rights when I can lick my own balls. (I’ll probably taste like sirloin.)
