Wazee Pamoja founder member Onyino Mukobe says the group was formed in 2007 and their main objective was to do charity work within Nairobi.
The group currently has over 107 registered members whose bases are four bars from which they derive team names, Green Yard of Buru Buru, River Nzoia of Outering, Maseno-Paradiso of Jericho and Ojwang of Umoja.
The bars form a four-team league with most participants being former international players.
Former Kenya and AFC Leopards players Mike Amwayi and Peter Lichungu are some of the star players who grace the Wazee Pamoja league.
Among the rules are that players must be at least 35 years old, and take the game at a slow pace. It’s like watching the 2003 SF Giants.
Anyway, I’m very disappointed in Australia for not thinking of this first.
