In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s action footage of Daley Fountain in Chicago, where the water was supposed to be red in honor of the Blackhawks in the NHL Playoffs. Oops. My favorite quote connected to the story came on Friday:
“It’s really cool. I just came out for lunch and the water, I think it’s supposed to be red for Croatian Day, but it’s coming out pink. Apparently red doesn’t work well,” said Richard Streetman, who stopped by the fountain on his lunch break. Told the fountain was supposed to honor the Blackhawks, “I think that the Blackhawks probably would prefer red, but color doesn’t work out that way with the sun, apparently.”

I didnt know Red was the croation national color. Most people never heard of croatian anyway. I used to just say i was Yugoslavian. I think their area in Chicago was around 47th and Damen or back of the yards

Last year when the St. Louis Cardinals were in the playoffs, the City of St. Louis dyed the water in the fountain at Keiner Plaza red, and it was actually red, not pink. Maybe they just have been doing it longer so they’ve figured out how to get it red.

That color would work great for Breast Cancer awareness day! Oh well, better luck next time.
