Darryl Strawberry on Dallas Braden's perfect game: 'So what?'

May 11, 2010, 12:15 PM EDT

The great thing about this Alex Rodriguez-Dallas Braden feud is that it refuses to go away, even though the two principals are no longer talking about it. So I’m sending out a nice FTD Pick-Me-Up Bouquet to Darryl Strawberry, who could have kept his mouth shut when asked about the controversy, but decided to throw out some quotes.

“How can they dog someone who’s going to the Hall of Fame? A-Rod said it pretty clear, 15 minutes of fame and he wouldn’t waste his time.”

That’s a bold statement on fame coming from someone who was fired from Celebrity Apprentice.

From the New York Daily News:

Strawberry wasn’t impressed that Braden turned in a perfect performance against the Tampa Bay Rays, the team with the best record in baseball.

“So what?” he said. “That doesn’t mean he’s great because he pitched a perfect game.”

“Baseball is a period of time of success, and A-Rod has done it consistently year in and year out. Who are they to talk about him?”

Instead of taking sides here, I’ll just leave you with a couple of passages from Strawberry’s autobiography, Straw: Finding My Way, which came out last year:

“Beer was the foundation of our alcoholic lifestyle. We hauled around more Bud than the Clydesdales. The beer was just to get the party started and maybe take the edge off the speed and coke.”

“The team’s mantra on the road was to tear up your best bars and nightclubs and take your finest women. The only hard part for us was choosing which hottie to take back to your hotel room. Lots of times you picked two or three.”

Strawberry made the Braden remarks while in Albany at a function for cancer research. Strawberry has battled the disease off and on since 1998, when he was diagnosed with colon cancer.

A-rod a hall of famer lets just stop right there. He cheated at baseball and will never get into the hall of fame. Moreover, if the commish had any balls he would have banned his lying ass for life.

Braden and his grandma with the truck driver language are trailor trash, this guy couldn’t carry A-Rods jock strap.

How do we know when straw is saying something irrelevant?
    When he moves his lips.
    Mr. Irrelevant.
    Go away

It goes without saying that you’re a sox fan . You can always tell one by the venom they spew . You and that other idiot Moses Green probably share a bed at the homeless shelter. You two just can’t get it through your simple minds that the only reason they(sox) won either series was because most of them were roid heads .

Who the hell is this guy to crtizise anyone except the image in the mirrors he looks at. With his reputation and lack of self respect he doesn’t have the right to talk against a perverted man of the cloth. He’s a perfect role model for what a role model shoudn’t be. As much a NY fan that I am I don’t want this guy on my side…

News flash to Crack Brain Strawberry – A-Roid is not going to the Hall of Fame.
A-Roid will be in the Hall of Shame with Barry Bonds, Clemons and others.
And Straw Man, you were so pathetic you won’t even be allowed to visit either Hall.

Nolan Ryan – The Best NY Met ever. At least you got a championship ring out of that deal – Rookie year?
Best quote from Ryan – after 7th No Hitter, “I could not have done it without my teammates.”
It was the same day Ricky “Mr Me” Henderson set the record for stolen bases and said, “Today, I am the greatest of all time.”
Ricky knew he would break the record and had months to think of what to say. “Greatest of all time”? No nod to Maury Wills or Lou Brock? What a low class idiot.
Nolan Ryan – classiest ballplayer of any sport – ALL TIME.
Strawberry? The batboy had a better career.

“This guy couldn’t carry Arods jock strap ” You’re wrong there my friend , he should cover his trailer trash mouth with it . Better yet, Arod should stuff it down his throat . I’m just sayin.
