Is Tiger Woods' life falling apart?

May 3, 2010, 3:30 PM EDT

Apparently resigned to the fact that Elin is leaving him, and, according to some, having given up on trying to catch the leaders at the his final day of the Quail Hollow Championship, Tiger Woods seems all the world like a beaten man. Now it’s he that’s circling the wagons with divorce attorneys. The New York Daily News is reporting that Woods met recently with attorney Jeff Fisher, who helped Greg Norman with his divorce last year. And hey, that went well! Elin Nordegren, meanwhile, was seen jogging in Sweden today, where she reportedly wants to live from now on … with the kids. Tiger can’t be happy about that.
Meanwhile, Us Magazine says today that Elin still loves Tiger, but realizes that it would “set a bad example for her kids if she stayed.”

Although Elin “still loves him,” she remains resolute in her decision. “She knew she’d set a bad example for the kids if she stayed,” a source says in the new Us Weekly. Even with a prenup in place, the athlete’s wife will likely get a good amount of Tiger’s fortune.

With no bodyguards in sight, Elin, 30, was photographed jogging solo in her native country on Saturday; wearing a black tracksuit and white cap, she listened to tunes on her iPod as she ran.

Hmm. She was listening to either “The Good Life” by Three Days of Grace, or “Resistance” by Muse, no doubt.

It’s the first known photo of Elin since she took her kids Sam, 2, and Charlie, 15 months, to the Scandinavian nation on April 19. The threesome is visiting with her family, but fast-and-furious construction also continues at a $3 million seaside estate Elin recently purchased. “She and the kids are going to be spending most of the summer there,” a family source tells Us. “Without Tiger.”

The insider adds that divorce between the couple of five years is “100 percent happening. Elin and her mom met with the lawyer.”

I love the term “first known photo of Elin,” as if she were a rare species of squid, or Bigfoot (who, by the way, has also been photographed jogging without his wedding ring).
To top it all off, Fox Sports golf columnist Robert Lusetich says that Woods just said “no mas” at Quail Hollow.

Laid-back Aussie Nathan Green was playing in the group behind Woods, and his mouth dropped when he got to the 16th tee and saw Woods was at 9-over-par for the tournament.

“I can get him if I bring it home,” he joked, and parred out to beat Woods by two strokes.

That’s what Woods has been reduced to: the butt of jokes from journeyman golfers.

If the scores weren’t bad enough, it was obvious to anyone following him that Woods gave up.

It is possible to forgive someone and also not want them in your day to day life, particularly if they are a negative role model and influence on your children. Just because you love and forgive someone doesn’t mean that you make yourself a doormat to their future actions.
