Truly great moments on Twitter are few and far between, but this one was amusing. I’m not sure where it originated, but someone started a Seinfeld-Kentucky Derby hashtag string on Wednesday that got pretty funny. The assignment was to come up with the best Kentucky Derby racehorse name using references from Seinfeld. Dan Shanoff recounted the mayhem on his Wakeup Call feature at The Sporting Blog this morning, and even turned in his Seinfeld/Kentucky Derby “Dream Field.” Here it is:
The Boca Breeze
My Cousin Had Pony
Serenity Now
Mulva
Giddyup
Beefarino
Yada Yada Yada
Spare a Square
I’m Keith Hernandez
Shiksappeal
Gold Jerry Gold
Classics all (I’d have to say my favorite is Serenity Now). But setting those aside, here’s my Top Ten, in no particular order:
No Soup For You
The Maestro
Rochelle, Rochelle
Festivus
Death Blow
I’m The Wiz
Prognosis Negative
Cry, Cry Again
I Choose Not To Run
Prickly Pete

Just about every base has been covered, except: “Feats of Strength” … “Marbled Rye” … “StuffYourSorrysInASackMister” (all one word, like the great thoroughbreds of yore) … “Polyp In The Duodenum,” “The Three Bulls” and “Yam Yam” (recehorses owned by J. Peterman) … “Capricious & Arbitrary” … “She’s A Two-Face” … “Rabid Anti-Dentite” (my fave) … “The Pensky File” … “Plaza Cable” … “Joe Mayo’s Party” … “Jesus Fish” … “Exercise The Gaskets” … well, that’s my Top 14 off the top of my head …
