By now of course you know the story; Miami Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland actually asked Oklahoma State receiver Dez Bryant in a pre-draft interview if his mom had been a prostitute. The resulting online criticism tsunami forced Ireland into this tepid apology on Tuesday:
“My job is to find out as much information as possible about a player that I’m consider drafting. Sometimes that leads to asking in-depth questions. Having said that, I talked to Dez Bryant and told him I used poor judgment in one of the questions I asked him. I certainly meant no disrespect and apologized to him.”
Parking in owner Stephen Ross’ space is poor judgment; asking if someone’s mother was a hooker indicates a personality disorder. Well, if Ireland is fired over this, I hear that Andrew Dice Clay is available. If he isn’t fired, here are some other questions he should avoid in future pre-draft interviews, courtesy of Rumors & Rants:
* “So how about that black president, huh?”
* “Discuss the narrative framework of Barbara Kingsolver’s The Bean Trees.”
* “Would you be the police officer in my Village People tribute band?”
* “Double Dare or Legends of the Hidden Temple?”
* “I really wish I was on Pandora right now, don’t you?”
Therefore in fierce tempest is Thursday coming, In thunder and in earthquake, like a Jove.
