OK, we know Matt Millen’s take on the Dez Bryant-Jeff Ireland situation. (Yikes). But a controversy is never really complete until Charles Barkley steps in and opens his yap. Because Barkley is the Will Rogers of our time, only fatter. Barkley appeared on Dan Lebatard’s radio show in Miami and Wednesday and was inevitably asked about Ireland’s infamous “prostitute” question.
“I’ve got to go out and get me a Dez Bryant jersey. I’m serious. That kid, for him to hold his composure, he’s my new favorite player. I’m serious. For him to hold his composure, if you were to ask that to somebody, I cannot believe he didn’t get punched in the face. For him to keep his composure, that is very impressive to me.”
Should Ireland be punished?
“I think they should say something that it was inappropriate, but like I said man, I don’t think…I have a rule on television that I never say somebody should get fired. Even if they do something stupid. It was stupid, it was uncalled for, in no situation is it acceptable. An apology is what you can do, but it’s just unacceptable. But like I said, I’m not going to go off on no tangent about this guy’s got to be fired. I’m going to leave that to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.”

Barkley needs to study some black history next February so he knows “Uncle Tom” is referring to a black man!

Charles is talking about people getting “punched in the face” in this story and he suggested the same fate for Masters Chairman Billy Payne. If a white man suggested violence like this against a black man, he would be labeled a racist and be fired…..
Its okay to call people on the carpet for unacceptable acts, but suggesting violence in not cool! Do you think Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will admonish him? Maybe they should punch him in the face?
