It’s a pitched PR battle that Tiger Woods has no chance of winning, but he has to try. In a somewhat odd and lengthy entry on his personal blog today, Our Hero engaged in a bit of damage control, apologizing, sort of, for using bad language on the course at the Masters, and trying to make up for his post-tournament press conference, in which he came off more like a grumpy Dickens character than a man trying to win back the hearts and minds of his fans. Excerpt from his blog:
I received some criticism for bad language, which I apologized for immediately after Saturday’s round. It’s tough when you’re in a competitive environment and in the flow of a tournament. I’m not perfect. All I can say is I’m trying to do everything I can without losing my fire and competitive spirit.
Yes, we got the idea you’re not perfect after about the sixth mistress. More Tiger Blog quotes, with my analysis of what he really meant:
Although it was my first tournament using all V-grooves, it was a seamless transition. I played V-grooves in all my irons except my sand wedges at The Presidents Cup and for the remainder of the year, so it was a pretty easy change. I didn’t have much trouble adjusting to the sand wedges because I have the softest ball on the PGA Tour.
Is anyone buying this? My handlers said talking about this s— would take your minds off of all the bimbos.
Before I stop talking about the Masters, I want to congratulate Phil Mickelson on the win and for all it means to him, Amy and the entire Mickelson family. They have really gone through a lot this year, and I wish them good health from now on.
This is the last time you beat me, man-boobs. Seriously, at the Open I will thrash you like a fleeing Escalade.
I hear Lorena Ochoa is retiring from professional golf. Although we never played together, I met her several times, and she is a wonderful person and a great champion.
(Opens fortune cookie) “… in bed.”
The game of golf is definitely going to miss her. I hope she decides to stay involved in one form or another.
Retirement sounds so f—— good right now.
I also heard that the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach this year will be televised in prime time on the weekend. I think the last time NBC did it was at Torrey Pines in 2008, and the ratings were pretty good. The only time we can be on prime time is when the tournament is held on the West Coast, so we might as well take advantage of it. I think it’s great for golf.
This is all because of me, people. Without me, the rest of the Tour might as well be playing Goofy Golf. And we both know it.
Next week, I return to competition at the Quail Hollow Championship in North Carolina. Quail Hollow Club is one of my favorite courses on tour. It’s traditional, right in front of you, difficult, and you have to shape shots both ways. I managed to win there in 2007 and look forward to going back.
Anyone seen heckling or displaying derogatory signs will have his throat removed with pliers.
I took a little time off after the Masters to go scuba diving and spend time with my family. But I did enjoy a fun round of golf with my friend John Cook at Isleworth Country Club.
Cutting my air hose? Twice? Not cool, Elin. When I get home tonight, we’re having it out. Do not think you’re taking the kids to Sweden without me. I’m laying down the law.

Tiger’s Blog: Some incredible fan support [Tiger's Blog]

Boy, it’s really hilarious to see how many of Tiger’s entourage are still hard at work filling these blogs with such pathetic support, of someone who has proven themselves to be of such poor moral character.
I, for one, continue to be embarassed that the game of golf, which used to be one of the most honorable games in the world, so openly supports such a disreputable figure such as Woods, and does so simply out of greed. The game of golf got along just fine before Woods came along, and will continue to do so long after he is gone, if the PGA doesn’t figure out some other way, in the meanwhile, to completely ruin its reputation.
To have Woods begin his rather questionable comeback at the course built by one of golf’s most honest, and reputable players, was perhaps the ultimate embarassment to the game. Bobby Jones would be truly embarassed to have witnessed the spectacle.
One can only sadly imagine what the future generation of young golfer’s will turn out like, after being encouraged to so readily embrace the return of a person of such low moral character.
“I’m not perfect”, ha, ha, ha! Just look at the company the man kept, and the kind of people who immediately came to his defense, such as Barkley, and Dailey. Hardly the kind of figures that anyone would consider as moral role models.

Boby Jones , the man you admire so much, was an unreconstructed racist. so much for the great moral charcater of the pioneers of golf.
I agree with Donna. This constant need for some in public and in the press to excoriate TW over moral lapses seem disingenous at beat. In a country where the divorce rate is approaching a mind boggling 60%, we are SHOCKED that TW was a philanderer. In what world were people living in? Fantasy land? Please spare us the false bs.
Get on with your pathetic life and in future, admire athletes for their athletic achievements and nothing more, idiot!!!

Tiger was a cranky self centered jacka$$ during his post Masters interview.
“Wah, I came to win Wah, I didn’t so Wah… People are reading to much into my crankyness wah, Wah wah being cranky helps me be competitive wah wah wah. I just want people to leave me alone wah wah wah…
Ummm Tiger, how about a little mention abou the fans at 18 that ALL gave you a standing O? Is this your way of telling them you don’t deserve it? And yes, a little congrats to Phil would have shown that you might have an ounce of gentlemen’s manners.
Nope Tigers a champion jacka$$. On the links as well as off.

Couldn’t agree with you more. NBC used to be a symbol of quality. Not anymore. The Today show is a gossip rag with effiminate Men anchors, Brian Williams is this emotional ragdoll, and the guy who wrote this piece of junk, I don’t know how the hell he got a job.

Why isn’t Larry King’s ridiculous life being highlited?
Allegedly screwing his wife’s sister and married 8 times and still has a primetime show and getting off (no pun intended) barely unscathed? Great hypocracy!

This was funny! It sounds like what you’d really say with one beer in ya, people! Tiger is a great golfer, but he is not god, JFK or Tiger Woods (anymore). So let’s have some fun, crack some jokes, and if the kid can take it, we can accept him as one of the boys. And if he can’t, he don’t have to pal around with us common folks anymore (did he ever?).
