For someone like me, who gets extremely nervous riding in a glass elevator (see High Anxiety), just looking at these photos causes sweating and great gnashing of teeth. But regardless of that, it takes a special kind of crazy to climb the 13,000-foot Eiger mountain in Switzerland with no safety equipment save for a tiny six-pound parachute, and then jump off. There are some humans who would, however. Dean Potter is one. Be sure to check out the video, in which he tightropes from one pinnacle to another at Three Gossips in Arches National Park, Utah. But my favorite insane activity is BASE jumping with a wing suit, which I understand Potter has also done. Just … yikes.
Tuesday. Just close your eyes and hold your breath and everything will turn real pretty.
