A Velez jersey fail, the SF Giants and you

The Giants are at a loss for words at this hour to explain the rather spectacular spelling accident involving infielder Eugenio Velez this afternoon. For his part, Velez said he didn’t notice the blunder during the game at all — who reads their own jersey, after all? — and didn’t find out about it until a reporter mentioned it afterwards. Velez made his season debut in the Giants’ 10-4 win over the Astros. Funny, yeah; but this shouldn’t impact the team at all. Jinx? No way. As I recall, the last team to experience a similar jersey spelling mistake was … let’s see …
