Morning Tweet: He's back, back, back, back, back …

Mar 31, 2010, 9:00 AM EDT

Despite the NFL Network making a big play for his services, Chris Berman has decided to re-enlist with ESPN. So the World Wide Leader will not be without leather, and that’s a good thing. Some things just go together, like Tiger Woods and Nike, Ari Gold and Lloyd, your NCAA tourney bracket and bitter regret. While it’s true that Berman has become pretty much a parody of himself at this point — the nickname routine, for instance, has the freshness of a Jackie Mason monologue — it would be quite off-putting seeing him in another setting. He may be a fool but he’s our fool; screaming at subordinates, yo-yo dieting, and just sitting around reminding us that he was on the ground floor of this whole sports network concept. He’s our one-man Hot Tub Time Machine. And with that disturbing image, I move on to other matters.
Wednesday is what you make of it, friend. If it doesn’t fit, you make alterations.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT …

What you missed while trying to figure out where the happy couple is registered

* The Duke Final Four t-shirt is seven or eight kinds of fail.

* God’s car will have a New Orleans Saints license plate.

* Sportswriter feud! (See last paragraph). I love these.
