A graphic designer's impassioned quest to fight Jose Canseco
Mar 15, 2010, 3:00 PM EDT
Travis Robertson wants to punch Jose Canseco in the face. Well sure, we all do. But Robertson’s reasons are very personal. When he was but a wee lad, he waited two hours in line at a card show for Canseco — then a member of the Oakland A’s — to sign his baseball card. He and 100 other kids were disappointed however, when Canseco didn’t even show up. “He missed his flight, or was drunk at the airport,” Robertson, 28, says now. Yes, that is bitterness in his voice. But Robertson, a graphic designer, wants to do more than throw bon mots at his childhood anti-hero. He wants to fight Canseco, MMA-style, in the ring.
Video following the jump.
So I suppose this is legit; on March 4, Canseco did tweet that he would spend the day doing anything with anyone for $1,000, but there are conditions now. Apparently, if you want to get into the ring with him, Jose will only spar. But Robertson figures that if he calls Canseco “chump” enough times on his site, it might get upgraded to a real fight, I suppose. Here’s Robertson’s web site. Winner gets Herschel Walker?
