Friday Blogdome: Otto should be watched closely around cheerleaders

Mar 12, 2010, 4:00 PM EDT

The Syracuse mascot is a bit of a pervert. The Syracuse basketball team not only lost to Georgetown in the Big East Finals yesterday but they may have also lost their starting center. Arinze Onuaku, an important piece of Syracuse’s run to #1 this year went down late in the game clutching his right knee. X-rays were negative but Onaku was getting a MRI today to find out if there is any ligament damage. And while all that was happening, when the team needed a pick me up the most and when their spirits were down … their mascot was backstage getting a closer look at the cheerleaders. [Guyism]

* Mark Sanchez grows a Joe Namath tribute mustache. I really blew it on this one. I knew that there were pictures of Mark Sanchez at this event but I didn’t think they looked exciting. That’s because I had no idea that Mark Sanchez was growing a Joe Namath-style trucker mustache. Obviously, it doesn’t really show up that well in the thumbnails. This isn’t the first time that Mr. Sanchez has attempted to grow a mustache. But this iteration is more bold and stylish than the “dirty” ‘stache he rocked earlier in the season. [Big League Screw]
* Hot Sauce Company Practices Amazing Subtlety With New Woods-y Flavor. Hot Sauce Harry’s just rolled out its Cheetah Woods Habanero sauce. Only $6.95 a bottle! Yeah, seriously. Now I wonder if Ari Fleischer had something to do with this. [Wei Under Par]
* Police Officer Posed for Pictures with Ben Roethlisberger Before Complaint. These photos, first posted by the Union-Recorder are sure to be the subject of great debate as the investigation of Ben Roethlisberger rolls along. The man with Roethlisberger is Sgt. Jerry Blash. He was also tasked with initially investigating the sexual assault complaint against the Steelers QB. These photos were taken an hour before Roethlisberger’s accuser filed the complaint. * Billy Wagner’s Journey from 5-3, 135-pound, Right-handed, High School Football Player to Left-handed, 16-year Major League Closer. “A guy from across the street named Chip — I still can’t remember his last name after all these years — comes in. He was about 2-3 years older than me and we were playing around and he fell on my right arm and broke my right arm. So I was in my cast and as a kid you want to play, so I played left-handed. And then I get my cast off my right arm. He comes over and breaks it again. He falls on me and breaks it playing football. Having a cast on your right arm for that long, you figure things out a little bit if you want to play and compete with the older kids. So I ended up being left-handed. But that’s the only thing I can do. I can’t do anything else left-handed.” [Sports Radio Interviews]
